Update on the iMac 2009 with #PopOS @system76 : sadly the Nvidia 9400M is not supported with the latest kernels.
Using a PPA, we can install a patched set of 340 series drivers (last supported for the GPU), but got artifacts and occasionally a freeze.
Reverted this and rolling with Nouveau. Just hope at some point we have opennvk and Nvidia just does the right thing and start supporting their gear on Linux.

I'm not joking here. Neuropsychological research has shown that passing through a doorway from one space into another triggers a #context switch in the #brain that can cause you to forget things you still have only in #ephemeral #memory. Ever go to another room and find when you get there that you can't remember what you were going there to do? It's because you passed through doorways on the way and your brain switched contexts.
Sometimes it's amazing we manage to get anything done at all. Our brains did not evolve with a modern civilization in mind. (So to speak.) A behavior that is adaptive on a savannah with scattered groves of trees may be highly non-adaptive in a modern city.
