Float labels may put you in the cool club, but they’re terrible UX.
It’s much better if your input’s label:
1) is legible
2) is above the input
3) doesn’t move about
4) is not mistaken for an answer

I found a great youtube channel the other day, it came up completely random.
From the Dojang
Small channel, but should be much bigger. C.M. Griffin is a 5th degree (I think) and he talks about the myths and misconceptions of the martial arts. His video on #Forms and #Kata Is really good.

Quick Question about #HTTP #forms and @enhance_dev :
If I have a page with a signin form called "/auth" and an API route called "/login" that the form POSTs to but the user supplied the wrong password, I want to respond with a 400 status, but also redirect the user back to the form.
return {status: 400, location: '/auth', json: {error: 'some error'}};
^ this displays the /login page with an error

Continuing to build on the RateMyPDF.com look and feel. That was the main feedback we got from some of our expert beta testers, that the table layout was confusing and hard to read.
New stats show where your form is compared to benchmark forms (soon to reflect 47 states, 24,000 forms). Red/yellow/green indicates above/within/below one standard deviation of the mean. The progress bar spans 2 standard deviations from mean
My favorite #forms plugin for #WordPress is #wsform: Its really amazing how easy to use and #accessible it is. They also have a good freemium Version which I use on every small site.
Big recommendation: https://wsform.com/

I tested the Form Block from @epiphyt, and I really like it. Including a form is so simple that I thought I must be missing something.
I inserted a contact form and was looking for configuration options (recipients etc.), but the form already worked out of the box, sending a mail to the WP admin 😉
Free version is ideal for WordPress-beginners, and if the items currently on the roadmap are implemented this might well be worth paying for:
Course and class evaluation forms are actually intended to be awesome. Let’s make it so!

I'm curious what's the defacto UX is for creating forms that can accept multiple repeated values? Say you want to allow specifying values to ignore/exclude. Would you add some JavaScript to append another <input> element? Or would you have the JavaScript add the value to a "tag list" where each value had a box and an 'x' to remove it. Or is accepting a space or comma separated list of values "good enough" (tm).

I've been quiet and patchy on social media for a while now - partly because of ongoing long COVID - which I've been transparent about - but also because my mother's dementia is worsening. Which I haven't chosen to talk openly about until now.
Dementia is a horrible terminal disease, and although my mother's has been kind to us as she still recognises the people closest to her and that is somewhat comforting as her world gets smaller and smaller, it is still devestating.
I am my mother's responsible person for everything - do your advance planning everyone! - and although we are well-organised this is still incredibly difficult and exhausting. For anyone who has waited for me to return emails or phone calls this is the primary reason, and again I thank you for your patience with my erratic schedule.
I will be travelling back to the mainland this weekend, returning next week, to help settle my mum into full-time care. The admin alone is astonishing, as those of you who have undertaken this process understand, but the details of moving a life from a home into a care facility is wrenching and fraught.
Have a good weekend and I'll see you soon,
Annetta

"#Always seek feedback". I think this is a very important #mantra / #formula for #improvement. I feel by putting structure to #feedback #forms - we deny people to provide pure feedback and limit it. Feedback #forms should have #open text feedback before structured like using objective questions and the likes.

👋 It's been a minute since I've talked about OmniForm! I got stuck on a fundamental problem and needed to step away for a bit after pushing hard for so long. Came back with fresh eyes and figured it out!

Can we finally get rid of these #JobApplication #forms? #ChatGPT can easily get the information out from #CVs.

I hate booking forms (and others, but specifically bookings) that don't accept subaddressing (plus-addressing) in email addresses and insist on "you must enter a valid email address". You stupid brain dead web developers! Read and understand that damn RFC 5233!

Rails form helper methods are in a dire need of a modern refactor where method arguments aren't obscure and strictly positional.
Sure progressive typing could help with interface discovery but why not kwargs?! You know everyone who's used these for over a decade still gets it wrong because they forgot to pass a positional nil before some custom HTML class.
It's worse than any other Rails API I can think of at this point. Is anyone already working on this already?
Wow. #Nextcloud App #Forms is ja schon sehr nice!
Einfach Link teilen und Antworten einholen. Installiert in bestehender Instanz in Sekunden. Sofort nutzbar. Coole Sache!
So... When your #Netlify #Forms #API delivers your message body, it looks like this:
'Message, message message-message message; message message.\r\n' +
'\r\n' +
'Message message - message!'
And that's nice and all but is there a way I can loop through that to display the new lines? Currently just plopping that body into a <p></p> removes all new lines.
I did try a replace to put <br>s in there, then inserting it as HTML, but that would then let through any HTML in the message body. Dangerous!
With web forms, for birthdate, a text input should be used for the best usability. A dropdown for the year is bad, but this is ridiculous! Sorry, but no one will be born in 2055 for another 32 years. Found multiple instances in the same painful process to sign up my son for a sport. #rant #UX #UXfail #UIDesign #UIFail #usability #forms 😖
I know some folks who have picked square space for their web hosting, but want to de-google their data collection. Squarespace #forms autofill google sheets. Is there a good way for them to collect sign-up information in a way the respects user #privacy and avoids Google?
They have some budget, so paying for something would be fine. They are in the UK and need to be GDPR-compliant. This is a queer project, so the data is slightly sensitive.
Suggestions very welcome.
#SquareSapce (why did it auto-suggest that spelling?? I meant #SquareSpace )
(The word press designer thing for the latest in-built theme is actually very hard to figure out which is why this group went for the corporate option. Their choice will not be revisited for the foreseeable.)
Today I learned that the CSS `:empty` selector is implemented to look for child content (think of innerText/innerHTML).
This means it reports empty for filled form elements which are self-closing elements.

Sometimes, despite everything I’ve done with students both in and out of the classroom, I think my greatest accomplishment as a teacher was filling in a risk assessment form for a trip to a philosophy conference and identifying the “risk of students thinking so deeply that they reject all social conventions, recognise their true existential freedom, and begin to ask questions that might make them doubt even their most seemingly secure perceptions of reality”, just to check if anybody reads them. The trip was approved. 😂
