He's an extremely sweet old man; they're estimating 15 years old. He loves to sleep curled up next to my kid in bed at night. Unfortunately it's been difficult to get pics of him, because he's skin & bones. He was terrified at the #shelter, and refused to eat for weeks. They had to force feed him multiple times. His appetite is back now that he's in our house.
He's also extremely chill in the bath.

This year I discovered Claire Keegan's fiction. After I read her novella, Foster, I was truly blown away by the power of her narrative style. Having grown up in an (immigrant) Irish Catholic family, it truly resonated.
Stunned to learn that Colm Bairéad used the story as the basis of his film, nominated for an Oscar, called "The Quiet Girl", in English, (Irish title "An Cailín Ciúin") and much of it is in the Irish language.

New foster pups! These two are on a guaranteed one week foster hold as they’re going to be part of a fundraising event next week before they go up for adoption. The pug is Muffin, and she’s 9 months old. The Bichon is Tippy, and he’s 7 years. They are best friends and totally inseparable! Super cute.
(Note that they’re not being held extra long for the fundraising event - this is just good timing for the shelter. And the event is on TV, so it’s low stress)

Say Hello to new foster pups Kiki & Tashi. 8 weeks old Another "accidental" litter ( aka irresponsible owners who didnt bother spaying/ neutering but expect rescues with limited resources to pick up after them) MADRA is a small rescue but today took on their 21st litter of 2022. 109 puppies, over 60 in just the last 2 months all needing vet care, food, shelter while waiting for homes. I have an appointment to take him and his so-far-unregistered brother Too into MAS on Wednesday so they can put them on display for adoption. Fostering to adopt from here hasn't worked. @Number10cat We're not in a position to give a permanent home to a cat now, but, just drawing attention to #foster #caring People who can't make a long term commitment can often offer a domestic home in the short term to older cats who've lost their carers and during kitten season when shelters can be full to bursting. In the past we've had a few and although it hurt when they moved on, it felt like a good thing to do #caturday
Next is Too, so named because whatever Tiger gets, he wants it too. He's not quite as affectionate or trusting as Tiger, but they are bonded and do all sorts of cat stuff together. He's not yet been registered for adoption at Memphis Animal Services, but I hope to take care of that soon.
