I've been making friends with a dear woman in town (around my age) who speaks virtually no english. It has been really interesting relating to each other with gestures, waves from afar, flowers, smiles, prayer hands and more. She speaks so much from her eyes - they are full of stories from her country.

I love how she smiles and does prayer hands when she sees me, as that is something that I do all the time, without even thinking.

@GottaLaff The recent death of @DearAuntCrabby. reminds me that there really are some friends who live in our phones & iPads etc, that are so worth making the effort to meet. She & I weren’t friends, merely friendly acquaintances, even by Internet standards. But her passing made me think of the handful of people over the yrs, who were true friends, who passed w/out me making the effort to meet them, even though they’d asked. It was recently explained to me that when I try to express mild #friendship interest in someone, it comes across as being cold / disinterested, but when I try to express strong friendship interest in someone, it's usually misinterpreted as a crush / #romantic interest. 😭

Feels like everyone received some kind of #communication dial, but I only got an on/off switch.

We're on here & I think we all know that virtual friends can be real friends, but there's still a need for IRL connection.

As we grow older it can become more difficult to make and maintain IRL friends. They don't have to be BFFs.

To me an IRL friend is someone who you would invite into your home or vice versa.
