Good morning #Fediverse! I hope you're all well in this (roughly) midweek period.

I started off my day by completing the 8th module of my #Scrimba #frontEndDeveloper Career Path (more of a modulette, as it was only about an hour long). Next I move on to a much bigger (and more exciting) module on API's. If you're maintainer of an #API, I could be coming for yours!

I've just realised, I forgot to say hello for this week.

Belated welcome to the week from Dodo. Hope you had a good long weekend (in the UK) or weekend (everywhere else).

I started the week on a high by starting my next module of my #scrimba #frontEndDeveloper career path: Code Reviews. It's a short one, so hope to have it done soon.

Pretty chuffed that #TodayIDid finished my Module 7 project from the #Scrimba #frontEndDeveloper career path. It's not perfect, it needs a little refactoring. But it works!

See what you think. Feedback welcome.

We'll, today ended on a high! I picked up Mrs Dodo (JoJo) and got her to the gym on time for her induction. She came out feeling guilty for spending lots of money, I told her if it made her happy, then I didn't care. I finished reading about the Commodore PET 2001, and even better, I managed to get a big chunk of the solo project for module 7 done.

When you build card components, you'll often wind up with uneven heights due to differing content. CSS line-clamp gives us one solution to standardize heights:

With JavaScript, we can hide our elements, and later reveal them based on an action.

Let's walk through an example:

In JavaScript, we react to actions (such as a button click) by listening for an event using addEventListener.

Then run code to react when that event happens using a named or an arrow function.

Before we can use JavaScript to do something with an element on an HTML page, we need to find that element.

This video demos 3 ways to find an HTML element: by id, class, and CSS selector.

You know that guy that does the trick shots, and everytime he does one, he jumps up and is like, "Alright, let's go!"

I'm like that, but when new code works, despite doing this for well over 20 years, and being alright at it, and I really shouldn't be surprised, but I always am for some reason.

Maybe it's that little bit of joy that keeps me at it all these years!

Quick introduction:

Ciao! 👋🏻

At the start of 2022 I sacked in my agency #CTO role, burned out and unfulfilled. I was done with being 'off the tools' and just a manger.

As of this year I've returned to my roots, got back on the tools and have gradually been reinventing myself as a modern #frontendDeveloper, and even leaning towards full-stack.

I've also founded a sustainable data start-up for fashion called LAYBL (https://laybl.app) – closing our first round of funding as I type.
