Russian Sage is a bit of a nuisance plant, but it's xeric, easy to care for and here in Utah the bees and Goldfinches always seem to find food. The picture's not great, as the finches are very skittish, but seeing a bush with 30 of tem eating away is always a great sight to see. #gardenbirds #birds #birdphotography

I think we've been adopted by a pigeon. This poor thing (and for me to say that about a pigeon is a first) hangs about the back door waiting for when I emerge to feed the birds. #MEcfs still kicking my butt a little at the moment, but nice to get out into the sun for a bit today, even if it was only the garden. I was sharing it with a small flock of #Starlings which were making short work of the fat balls
I think this is the same bird keeps visiting, it's getting more tame each time. Using an older prime lens today to see what comes out. I was very happy with this one.

Despite the bad weather this weekend I managed to get out with my new #Panasonic #LumixG9 camera last week and am excited to share with you one of the first photos I’ve taken.
It’s of one of my favourites - the #goldfinch.
Strangely, I walked with my new #camera to where I had previously encountered a nesting pair but they were no where to be seen. Fortunately, on my way back, I heard their recognisable #bird call from another tree. It was here that I was able to get this photo.
It was shot at ISO3200 which is a value I would go nowhere near with my previous bridge camera but I’m extremely impressed with the G9’s performance. The colours are truly striking and I love how the red face of the goldfinch matches closely to the pinecones of the #tree in the background.
