Fun fact I say I'm a #queer woman because I don't really want delve too much in the fact that while I'm probably #genderfluid or #demigender (most days i feel like a woman but other tomes i feel genderless), I'm comfortable enough to be referred to as a #woman and with she/her pronouns.

Sometimes it's just easier to say "I'm a queer woman" and leave it at that because I present as a woman in my day to day life.

Hello! I've been coming out of my shell and been doing just fine! I'm a #genderfluid #nonbinary software dev that likes #spooky stuff and dangerous machines.

I am a proponent of #FOSS (but not rabid about it) and like digging into the mechanisms behind code.

I may have to change my approach with my gender fluid match. We've been talking, but they are slow to answer.

I do sense a modicum of shyness, so I think I'm going to offer going out to a queer-friendly public place for our first outing.

Why queer-friendly?

I wouldn't want my baby to feel inhibited by the looks of other folks if they decide that I'm irresistible and want to cuddle or kiss me. 😏

How is it a change of approach? I've usually offered walk, supper, and then getting busy in a hotel room. This is *fast*, and I think my match might be too shy for this speed.

I've sometimes been even faster than this, but I don't recommend it. The results were less than satisfactory.

Ok, here I am saying it: I am not as enthusiastic as apparently everyone else about #Nimoa. Yes, I really love how they represented genderfluidity as someone who themself is genderfluid and everything up until the end is great about the movie. But the ending ruined most of it for me. Nimoa only finds acceptance when she apparently dies. She sacrifices everything for the people who despised her up until now and only then they recognize her. Salvation through death is a terrible trope imho. Yes, we learn, that she survived, but that's literally in the last scene of the movie and the sacrifice still stands. Don't do that, it's shitty and imho a toxic trope. No one needs to sacrifice anything, least not their own life, to be deserving of love and recognizion by society. Allow queer people in media to just exist without needing to fight for it.

I was on 2mg Estradiol pills for a bit over a month and I had a blood test that showed my levels were very good! Estradiol at 363 pmo/L (very close to 100 pg/mL) and T within the normal female range (I was taking low-dose CPA).

However, my liver wasn't happy so my doctor switched me to, safer, Sandrena gel sachets. I was originally instructed to take half a 1mg sachet every 2 days, but the pharmacist said that was weird and got confirmation that I can take a whole 1mg every 2 days instead.

I later looked online and got conflicting information about equivalent doses for different deliver-E methods. Generally, I think 1mg gel sachet is said to be roughly equivalent to a 2mg pill, but it can vary, and a wiki quote suggests you'd need 3mg to be as effective as a 2mg pill: "Topical estradiol gel at a dosage of 3 mg/day has been reported to be equipotent with 2 mg oral estradiol in terms of therapeutic effects and FSH suppression, as well as to produce similar estradiol levels."

I also found a UK site that specifically listed timing for blood tests, saying it should happen 4-6 hours after taking a pill or applying gel.

A helpful wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmacokinetics_of_estradiol) has colourful graphs showing E levels over days/hours after taking it via various routes.

I had my most recent test a bit less than two hours after taking a pill. This may have artificially inflated my level a bit so the 2mg may not have been a sufficient dose for me, but it's difficult to tell because I'm confused by the graphs (or distracted by the colours).

My main concern is that the gel dosage and frequency I am currently taking is not enough, and I just don't know when I should take my blood test for helpful science reasons. If I take it 4-6 hours after application, it'll look high. If I take it 24 hours after (on my off day) it will be very low. (Graphs suggest that levels could be quite low after that time?)

I haven't felt much of anything in the past three weeks on a low dose of gel and I want to make sure I'm working toward a good, consistent level ASAP.

I read somewhere that it's always ethical to manipulate your blood test results if that will help you get the prescription results you want, but I do want to be open with my doctor (I have autism) about my concerns and wanting a higher dose and how I am testing.

I just don't know how long after a once-every-two-days gel application I should get a blood test if I want the data to be useful in my next appointment.

Does anyone with experience with gel and/or HRT blood tests have suggestions?!

(It would be so much easier if patches, with their gradual release and consistent levels over multiple days, weren't in such short supply right now!)

I just re-read Small Miracles by Olivia Atwater for the... fourth time. Or was it the fifth? I've lost count. Anyway...

I love Atwater's prose and humor.

I find the casual fluidity of the angels' gender presentation... aspirational? I think that's the sentiment I'm looking for. I'd like to live in a world where it's not a big deal that "Gadriel had opted to be a man today, in an attempt to shake up his thinking."

I appreciate that Atwater riffs on Good Omens by Gaiman & Pratchett, but scales it down from "save the world!" to "save these few people" because things don't have to be world-ending to be important.

More than anything, though, I like this book for what it says:

About love - "[...] love is something you do. Quite often, it's something you choose."

And about despair and hope - "But creation wasn't made just to despair, Wormwood. There's an awful lot that's still going to happen between now and that last, dreadful moment. There are small lives being lived, and small triumphs being had, and small people enjoying their favorite red velvet cupcakes. And all of those small things still have meaning, even if they someday have to end."

On this the first Pride Month since I "Cracked" I contemplate where I am, and where I fit.
I have a thousand reasons not to come out, but I am sure EVERYONE Who ever came out had 1000 reasons not to.
For that, I toast your courage! You have done what I cannot yet.
One of the big reasons is that I don't know exactly what I would come out as.

Transfem?
The part of me that is Katie is very feminine and there are times I wish I could just wrap myself in her and be her and go out in public and be seen as her. But there are other times I don't "feel" Katie...and I am quite comfortable in my male-mode.

NonBinary?
Maybe? Though there seems to be an expectation of androgyny associated with that identity that, imposed by society or not, is not me. I sometimes feel she/her, sometimes I feel he/him, I never feel disconnected from gender, never feel they/them. That said, NonBinary is the technical term for the fact that I am not either/or. That said, I hid a Enby flag in my latest Tattoo.

Maybe, but it seems to just be a gentler way of saying NonBinary.

Seems about right, but it's a term almost no one uses.

So, coming out is complicated, by the fact is that I have no easy answer as to what I am coming out as.

That said, I have come out to a couple of coworkers I feel safe with and... I quietly changed my pronouns in my email sig to Any/All
