Impressed with the place so far with its good range of reasonably priced drinks, vegan food choices, and a playlist including Suede, Cranberries, Edwy Collins, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, and Sneaker Pimps. Hate to break it to you – it’s getting harder to hide income from the IRS.
At least, the IRS is growing in its ability to track income coming “under the table” through payment apps and websites like Etsy and Poshmark.
Last night, we saw Unthank : Smith at the Band on the Wall, Manchester.
Unthank : Smith is a new northeast folk-y project by Rachel of The Unthanks and Paul Smith of Maxïmo Park.
With Rachel on harmonium and cello, Paul on guitar, the rest of the band added clarinet/sax, drums, guitar/bass and harmonies. But really it was all about Paul and Rachel singing together, sometimes a cappella.
We had an amazing view too, from the second row. What a wonderful gig!
I had an excellent night watching 50% of the #Bluetones perform yesterday.
I'd never seen them before and they were great fun as well as playing some superb music.
Best of all is that they made the effort to come over to the Isle of Wight - I think one of them has a connection to the Island. They played at Strings bar, which is an absolutely cracking little venue. My favourite type of #gig in a small independent club.
Feeling a bit fragile today, so it was definitely a good night!

Here's a favourite of mine. An absolutely spellbinding #gig by #MGMT 2018
Bizarrely making their festival entrance on the mainstage AFTER headliners Pearl Jam had finished their traditionally long set. It could have been a damp squib. But they played hit after hit, fun & full of energy it was a wonderful performance, with a mesmerising video wall & light show that went on until after 3am. We left euphoric

The royal party set up on the beach under a huge tent. Guards at both ends of the beach kept onlookers back. People were surf-fishing & Revin hobbled down to investigate.
"Want to try, Sir Revin?" asked Terrier. He got a pole & baited the hook. When Revin tried to cast the line, however, a shooting pain went through him & he convulsively jerked the line back out of the water.
"Hook them, don't #gig them!" Griphon laughed, slapping Revin on the back, right on his wound.
Revin screamed.
The client finally said out loud what’s been obvious for a month, but they’ve been talking around: they aren’t going to put more money into the project. So, I will be looking for a new contract gig to start in January.
