Yes, a #Torc with a knot in it! Yes, it would appear it's an Iron Age knot. We have absolutely no idea why someone would tie a knot in a torc (there aren't other known examples), but my suspicion is it was done because they could - this is not easy thing to do & my gut feeling is this is a goldsmith showing off their skill set.

This beautiful #gold #phiale is decorated with beechnuts, #bees and acorns.
#Acorns could also be seen on the phialai held by the caryatids of the #Erechtheion on the #Akropolis in Athens.

Not all #illumination needs to be real #gold. These #medieval styled name tags use Yasutomo Pale Gold Watercolor. It looks just like shell gold.

Ribbon torcs - once thought to all the Bronze Age, but it's now recognised there's two groups - Bronze Age simple twisted forms & these mega clever anticlastic-raised Iron Age forms.
Brian Clarke (goldsmith extraordinaire) made one & if you watch the video in this link, you'll see how - honestly, it's amazing!
As some of you know, as well as looking at #torcs & #gold, I also make #chocolate #archaeological #artefacts .
It's a #hobby, I don't sell them & often only make something a couple of times. I do it for the challenge!
Rules are it has to be 100% edible & can't have hidden props or internal supports.
As we're heading into the weekend, here's one I made earlier: a chocolate #replica of the #Netherurd torc, as it might have been.
...and to my knowledge the only replica of this torc ever made! 🤣
