Friedrich (1774-1840) is a favorite of mine for his hugely atmospheric, Romantic, and sometimes Gothic, landscapes. His work is often used as book covers for various Romantic/Gothic reprints. His body of work is worth checking out, I say.

After a lot of back-and-forth over the book's focus, I finally got the first chapter written for 'Nightshade's Emporium'. It'll be good to balance the darker and more dramatic (and ghoulish) plots of the other books under the 'Grotesqueries' heading with dry humor as well as a contemporary setting.

The first danse macabre appeared in Paris between 1424 and 1425 – on the back wall of a charnel house in Holy Innocents’ Cemetery.
Unfortunately for this gothic traveller, the site is better commemorated as the location where King Henry IV was assassinated. (Ironically, it’s his assassination that led to the piece’s destruction.)

Der Laden ist außerdem ein Safe Space, ein Schild am Eingang verkündet: Rassismus, Queerfeindlichkeit und andere menschenverachtende ismen haben dort keinen Platz.

I read a lot of SF #books. Trek novels are my go-to “comfort food”. I’m slowly working my way through all the #HugoAward Best Novel winners, and every year read all of the nominees for the #PhilipKDickAward before the annual award ceremony at Norwescon.
Speaking of the #PhilipKDickAwards and #Norwescon, starting this year, I am the PKD Award liaison for Norwescon. This means I’ll be overseeing the award ceremony and working with nominated authors and their agents as we invite them to attend the ceremony.
I’m one of the many Seattleites who “used to be a #DJ”. For me, it was about a decade in #Anchorage in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s, primarily at The Lost Abbey and Gig’s Music Theatre. Focused on alternative genres: goth/industrial/synth pop/ebm/techno/etc.
Though recently on the pandemic-induced fringes, I try to be part of the #SeaGoth (Seattle #goth / #gothic) community whenever possible. Used to hang out at The Vogue (on 12th), and am currently looking forward to getting back to the Mercury…eventually.
