At the top of the hill on the way home tonight there was a sort of reverse sunset lighting up the eastern horizon. High eastern clouds are often lit by the sunset but I have never seen the whole horizon glowing with this kind of color.

Rechts eine fliederfarbene Silikonform für 6 breite Müsliriegel, 3 Taschen sind mit RiceCakes gefüllt, man sieht kleine Cranberry-Stückchen. Links daneben ein 3D-gedruckter Rahmen und 2 Stempel. Der Rahmen sorgt dafür, dass die sehr flexible Silikonform beim Befüllen die Form behält. Mit den Stempeln kann man die RiceCakes perfekt in die Form pressen.

25℉ with a 20mph headwind. The horses lined up behind the chokecherries for shelter. Halfway along my neighbor pulled over in his pickup and said “this can’t be any fun.You can throw your bike in the back-no one has to know.” I said thanks, but work would be pleasant after finishing this ride. A gathering storm made a nice sunset on the way home.

Die heutige über den RSG Nortorf organisierte Gravel-Ausfahrt namens "Westensee Waffel Ride 2023" war sehr verregnet. Die bereits im Vorhinein völlig aufgeweichten Wege wurden auch durch die ca. 50 Mitfahrenden nicht besser, nur tiefer. Als Belohnung für das Durchhalten auf den ca. 110 km gab es eisige Füße und schleifende Scheibenbremsen :o)

Dziś troszkę wolny styl jazdy z jednym celem: wypić kawę gdzieś w fajnym miejscu. Padło na jezioro Kłeckowskie w Borzątewie. Miałem farta, ze akurat trafiłem na golden hour i była okazja do robienia całkiem fajnych zdjęć. Tuż po zachodzie słońca temperatura zaczęła spadać, więc tempo trzeba było podkręcić.

Do domu trafiłem już na minusie - a i tak było warto. 🚲 ❤️

Today, a bit of a free style of riding with one goal: to drink coffee somewhere nice. It fell on Lake Kłeckowskie in Borzątewo. I was lucky to be there during golden hour and there was an opportunity to take some pretty cool photos. Just after sunset, the temperature started to drop, so we had to pick up the pace.

I got home with a minus score - but it was still worth it. 🚲 ❤️

I will blow a stop sign or traffic light if I’m sure nobody is in conflict simply to reduce the amount of time I’m on the road. I haven’t tried #gravelbike at night. Maybe next spring. #bikenite

"DAS Graveln" gibt es nicht.

Für Manche ist #graveln, wenn sie anstatt auf dem Asphalt dann auf der Waldautobahn weiterheizen können.

Andere graveln überall herum und nutzen es als Allterrain Bike.

Und wieder andere haben das #Gravelbike als MTB-Ersatz und ackern damit durch den größten Matsch und Dreck.

Meine Meinung:

Der Anwendungsfall ist entscheidend, nicht der Aufkleber darauf.

WTF WTB? Warum verbauen deutsche Fahrradhersteller diese Reifen in ansonsten alltagstauglichen Gravelbikes, obwohl sie keinerlei Pannenschutz haben?

Meine erste Ausfahrt mit dem neuen Gravelrad sollte nur durch halb Bielefeld gehen, endete aber mit einem Platten im Hinterrad, der fast zu einem Sturz in der letzten Kurve geführt hätte.

Einen durch Glassplitter verursachten Platten hatte ich in den letzten 20 Jahren nicht mehr, und ich fahre fast jeden Tag. Und das nicht immer mit Marathon-Reifen. Selbst Rennradreifen wie die GP4 haben einen besseren Pannenschutz als die WTB #Riddler.

Laut Hersteller werden die WTB verbaut, weil die cool kids in den USA auch damit fahren. Wenn ich aber ein Gravelrad mit kompletter Straßenausrüstung kaufe, erwarte ich, dass ihm die Glassplitter nichts ausmachen, die mir auf dem Weg zur Arbeit immer wieder unterkommen. Dass es Dornen und Metall widersteht, erwarte ich gar nicht.

Halfway through my 73 km journey, moments after I set our from a stop at Ontario’s best unknown brew pub—Black Donnelly’s—in a desolate rural wilderness near Fullarton, the clouds opened and the rain came to remind me of a day of wind-driven biblical rain in Scotland.

Before us are two great Canadian maple trees dressed in robes of autumn rose. The day has been rainy and overcast; evening approaches. A path winds its way below the canopy of amber-passionate colour between borders of still summer green grass, while at the far left, just about to exit the camera’s field of view, a lone, wet jogger slogs along, making the best of it.

A number of mature trees decked out in fall regalia appear to lean into rain together. In the distance, the modern-day fake gas lantern streetlights near the theatre are already lit at 6:30 pm-something.

We’re at the base of a large mature Great Carolinian Forest tree, of which few remain round these parts; its roots are visible before us, the fat roots of the roots if you imagine looking up from below. This one’s a maple with all its red wine luminescence; in the distance, the tall black walnuts have gone a royal shade of yellow.

Gibt's die Canyon "rides" bzw. Wochenend-Ausfahrten eigentlich noch? Habe den früheren Namen vergessen und finde gerade auch nichts dergleichen auf der Website.

Die fanden früher jedes Wochenende statt und waren eine gute Möglichkeit, Testbikes nicht nur über den Parkplatz, sondern durch die Moselwälder Probe zu fahren.

Gestern war endlich #NewBikeDay und die ersten 65km über Stock und Stein sind im Sack. Unglaublich, wie laufruhig und stabil so ein Rad auf Wurzeln, Schotter, Sand und Waldboden sein kann. Da wird noch eine Menge Spaß auf mich zukommen. 😛

Ein schwartes Gravel-Bike lehnt an einem Baum in einem Wald. Das Rad ist schwarz, besitzt Scheibenbremsen und breite Allroad-Reifen. Ein Radcomputer , eine eingeschaltete Frontlampe und eine schwarze Trinflasche sind zu sehen. Am Boden viel trockenes Gras, grünes Moos und Laub.

Ein Bild von einem Stück Strand, bzw Seeufer. Der Boden besteht teils aus Grasstücken, teils aus Sand. Der Lange See in Grünau ist zu sehen, darüber die Sonne, die gerade unter einer Wolke hinter dem Wald untergeht. Der Himmel ist ansonsten blau. Im unteren Teil des Bildes sieht man den Lenker eines Gravel-Bike, Teile des Rads und einen Radcomputer.

Needed some time to think so I loaded my bike up and went to the woods for a couple days.

Lovely weekend overnight bike trip with @Lobelia -130km round the Warwickshire lanes - Birmingham to Stratford to Warwick then home after a jaunt along the canal paths east of Leamington Spa.
Really glad to have chosen the Whyte gravel bike for this, instead of my Ribble - less of a compulsion to try and sprint uphill on a heavier bike like this, but still nice and quick! Also enjoyed having 40mm tyres for comfort 😊
