@edwiebe @proactivepaul interesting point and it seems counter intuitive to be throwing away perfectly good cars or machinery but we have to do just this. Ideally to mitigate, it's too late to stop climate break down, but just to mitigate it down to a disaster as opposed to existential threat. We need zero carbon by 2030 or as close as possible. This means we will have to throw away perfectly good fossil driven machinery.

All dollars don't buy equal interest in politics. There being money in #green initiatives doesn't mean that money will buy, in equal share, the same influence in a politic soaked in oil and gas cash.
Finally, he points to oil co's investing in green as proof that the reason those initiatives falter has nothing to do with company lobbying/etc.
He might do well to look in to the concept of hedging. And consider whether the oil co's are investing the same *amounts* in green lobby as oil.
