PSA: I am trying my best to write good image descriptions (alt text), but sometimes I really struggle to describe something. Especially because #FragMyBrain then has a black-out ... I am in the middle of a sentence and then I am lost for words - words that I have used just a few minutes ago. This mostly happens in English (my secondary language - with German being primary and Turkish tertiary). I then use a translation tool to find the best possible translation of a German term. So, sorry for sometimes having weird sounding texts.
But apart from that, here is my biggest problem with image descriptions: How do I describe a COLOR to a person born blind?
I think a person who lost their sight has a sense of color because they used to see them. But a person born blind? How do I do that?
This is a serious question. Really, it really bothers me because when I start writing things like "... the blossoms have pink tips ..." - I mean, what does a person born blind imagine/think what "pink" is?
Thus, my PSA: Any help on this topic, or any guideline how to describe or circumvent that in image descriptions is highly, highly appreciated. I really would not want to skip the color information because that is sometimes a very important one.
So, please 🙏 - if any of you has any suggestions, tips, ... I would be forever in your debt.

Im Downloads-Verzeichnis startet Grafana, in ~/bin crasht es mit einem obskuren Fehler.
Dafuq? md5-Hashes sind gleich. Das restliche Zeug aus dem Tarball hab ich natürlich auch kopiert.

I am looking for a sensible measure of association between two time series with counts, but with a lot of zeros as well. For some odd reason I can't seem to find much literature on that. Anyone who can point me in a useful direction, preferably with some ready-to-use #RStats function?

Having some very critical display errors with #Fedora38 on my Dell Latitude 5431 and nvidia MX550.
6.2.{9,10,11}.
VGA controller: Intel Alder Lake-P integrated graphics (rev 0c)
3D controller: nvidia TU117M [GeForce MX550] rev a1
nouveau driver goes insane with errors.
nvidia official driver works until GDM tries to start.
GDM just a black screen of nothing.
startx works for a while, will randomly lockup and stop responding.
#HelpWanted Some of my students recently installed #RStats 4.2.3 on a #Windows 11 Home version. They have perfect internet access, but functions like install.packages() and update.packages() fail, claiming CRAN is not available. Yet, I can reach CRAN perfectly well using an internet browser.
So I presume #Windows blocks the internet access. Anyone more info on why and how to solve this? Thx.
ZFS support in linux distros: which is best?
I have a home server with lots of things on ZFS that I don't want to migrate to some other FS. But TrueNAS SCALE isn't the platform I want to have that on anymore.

I'm having trouble building my #Mastodon development environment, so I can have a bug fix merged. I tried running installing Bundler for #ruby on #Windows #Powershell, but it gets hung up over three packages that have conflicting versions. I tried using #GitHub code spaces to try to get Bundler to run on a #linux environment, but there seems to be a cloud infrastructure error.

I walked into my new office-to-be-for-two-weeks and was delighted to find an enormous monitor sitting on my desk. Unfortunately, the resolution's so high that text (and toolbars, icons, etc.) end up being tiny. On GNOME, I kind-of worked around this by setting the display to 200% zoom (I'd have preferred 150%) but is there an equivalent for sway?

Do I know of any artists that fit the following criteria?
a) open for commissions
b) able to do landscapes (ancient, Roman-era Britain in particular)
c) Are able to do so with historical accuracy (as much as we know)
d) Possibly having artwork that has dead bodies / warriors in the mix (Saxon / King Arthur, et al).
e) OK with having their work be part of an interactive storyworld / game
f) Able to work within a budget (like most of the modern world money is sadly not as plentiful as we'd like)

I had a ridiculously detailed dream last night. When I woke up, I felt compelled to instantly start working on a crude game design document because I was so damn excited by the idea! Once I started writing, more exciting ideas started pouring out.
I am NOT a video game designer. I don't code. But I think this game idea has legs.
I've also learned to never ignore these ideas that originate in your dreams.

Anyone with an idea how to debug this? Whenever this happens, video looks like this, there is a brief "white" noise via the internal speakers of about half a second and the only thing still working after is the "FnLock" feature led. Requiring hard power off.
