Synopsis:
Elena has been searching for her abducted rider for a long time. Memories of her rider haunt her day and night. She hits home in a small town to recuperate and get her act together to find a new lead to her rider. She finds it in the town with Riverclaw, another dragon who too lost his rider to abductors. Elena is determined to find her rider, however is prepared for the realisation that happens.
Author's note: this story features someone who is not in a healthy mind space. It has been my way of exploring a new character who has undergone a traumatic event that left scars they don't yet realise. I advise readers who are sensitive to subjects of self-harm, starvation, and death to exercise discretion.

A new study suggests that humans can sense the Earth’s magnetic field, a phenomenon known as magnetoreception. Humans have evolved a special brain mechanism for sequential memory, and that this mechanism could explain some of the differences between human and animal intelligence.

A new technique analysing modern #genetic data suggests that pre-humans survived in a group of only 1,280 individuals.
“About 98.7% of human ancestors were lost,” says Haipeng Li, a population geneticist at the University of Chinese Academy of #Sciences in Beijing, who co-led the study.
