This is a photo of the iconic Whin Sill stretch of Hadrian's Wall in the north of England. It is taken from the west just outside the Steel Rigg car park, looking east towards the Sill.

In the foreground, there's a wooden sign that directs walkers to the Sill. It stands next to a traditional dry stone wall, which rises on the right of the shot.

Beyond, somewhat out of focus, there's the ridge line of the Whin Sill. It towers above Crag Loch - a small inland lake that sits to the north of the ridge line - with rolling fields disappearing into the distance beyond.

The sky is cloudy and overcast, but surprisingly blue, considering that Storm Betty was rolling in as I took this photo! It isn't shown in the photo, but the sky behind me is just black, with the landscape hidden by heavy falling rain.

A bedazzling photo of tall, vegetation-covered cliffs along Kauai’s coast that are both steep and lush. There are a band of clouds looping around the 4000’ peaks about half way up, but the summit is still visible above and the ocean is visible below. Went to a Boston landmark this afternoon. #Kowloon , among the last of roadside attractions and restaurants on route 1, and slated to close and rebuild as something else in the near future. This place has been a wonderful occasional haunt for the 17 years we've been in the Boston area.
