Because I overthink whenever I set up a new social media bio and did actually have this problem during an ERG call a few weeks ago:
At a family picnic ~15 years ago, during a break after a rough game of horsehoes, one of my great-uncles starts a conversation with his brothers (2nd gen Americans): "So my grandson came to me the other day and asked, are we Mexican-American? And I said...🤷♂️sure(?)"
This started a conversation where every term that we've used in the last while was listed: Chicano, Latino, just Mexican, Hispanic, Spanish (a New Mexico thing).
What should me and my second cousin be calling ourselves? 4 generations in, barely speak an Spanish, etc. Mexican-American? Chicano (if I'm chicano I'm like the indoor cat of chicanos)? Nuevomexicano, really? I usually just said Hispanic which usually means a few generations in here, but I really don't know outside of that, and I also didn't used to work with any Latine from outside New Mexico to have to worry about it.
A brief detour into "but we're supposed to check white on the census, no?", then finally, as many family conversations go, which cousin's balls to break for being the most Chuppy (Chicano-yuppy) because they golf so much and wear polos for fun.
I tell this story to let you know that I think I'm entering my tio era and it doesn't matter much what I call myself. In any situation where I'm going to identify myself, it's just as likely to be a thing because I am on the lighter side. So any interaction usually ends in one of 2 ways: someone feels seen for who they might be, or someone walks away muttering pinche güero under their breath. I'll take the former even if means the latter.

Now are there specific reasons why AKA or similar #aliases could not be used to implement something similar to #nomadicIdentity?
Two profiles both indicating one another via AKA/alias would be considered the same person and treated as such by their followers.

I wanted to highlight a new Preview feature in Entra:
Report Suspicious Activity can elevate User Risk!
When you enable this feature, if an end user chooses to report fraud/suspicious activity during an MFA prompt, you can raise their user risk so you can take additional actions for the user.
But more importantly, it allows organizations to use risk based CA policies to allow the appropriate user to self mitigate using Risked Based CA policies. The appropriate users can self-mitigate without having to call the helpdesk.
I'll put links to the docs below, but let me explain more here.
I have worked with many customers who blocked users who reported fraud from MFA prompts, but this causes a burden on the SOC to review and unblock them, and also a burden on the user for doing the right thing in reporting it.
This could be blocking the user and having the SOC review to unblock them, but that is a BIG impact to the end user. If a user chooses to report it, they get penalized since now they have to contact the support desk so they can get back to work.
This disincentives users from doing it a 2nd time once they have that experience.
Now you can use that end user signal to elevate the users risk, much like "There is something abnormal happening!" and use the CA policies to block risk elevated users unless they can satisfy the CA policy controls.
Help your users become allies so they want to report the suspicious activity to block the attackers and not themselves.
This feature combined with the recent release of code match, and context not only gives end users better tools to make decisions for MFA prompts, but also a feed back mechanism to report suspicious activity.
Good security controls should help mitigate the attackers, and try to stay out of the way of the business user themselves from doing their role. We should keep this in mind when deploying security controls, as that the user experience matters.

A strange and overlooked, perhaps forgotten, film by Wim Wenders, NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES (1989).
I remember seeing this when it came out. I was a big Wenders fan at the time, still am, and I was hungry for anything he was making. I always loved this film, though I also think it could be better.
