this track is one of those cases where I started out with an idea - in this case, to compose something vaguely trip-hop-sounding - and the composition almost immediately began to go off the rails. you can still hear a bit of the Massive Attack and Hooverphonic influence in the drum and bass loop, but the end result is more like if an androgynous Mike Doughty recited a poem over a slightly fucked up IDM track. (upon reconsideration, I guess that's just El Oso, except with more genderfuckiness.)

Well this is a surprise, but also not? I'm sure folks in the #Breaks scene were caught off guard by Dave doing a completely #Downtempo album, and good on him bucking convention. I'm sure he was feeling #NuSkool was getting stale as the #00s rolled on (because it was).

So going full #TripHop is an interesting wrinkle, sprinkling just enough #Glitch and #IDM touches that I'm sure wow'd purist breakbeat boys. Some of those drippy sounds tho', remind me of #PsyTrance wibble.

Skipping the first album, since I've done a review of it. Plus, it ain't available on streaming, so...

We're definitely in peak #NuSkool #Breaks era with this. Not as adventurous as his debut, but that's a good thing. I found Dave at times over-reached with his #Glitch and #IDM indulgences before, whereas here they're much more restrained and subtle. Finely produced for efficiency rather than showing off.

Also, does that closer ever go BoC-like.

I have a new album out in the world!

Epiphytes are a common kind of plant here in NZ that grows on another tree without harming it. When I make music I tend to shuffle ideas around from one project to the next and it reminded me of that image.

Radio Irrtum! ist meine Radiosendung, in der wir zusammen die Weiten des musikalischen Untergrunds erforschen.
Diesmal wird es sich wie ein gigantischer Chill anfühlen, der jede Menge verschiedener Musikstile vor sich hertreibt:

This was my first proper album.

It had an ill-fated physical release on mini-disc and cassette through Holojamz. Sold out the physicals, but they were never produced.
Anyway.

This is a great fun album filled with upbeat #BreakBeat bops maybe some #IDM and #HipHop It's made entirely with Elektron Digitakt in a dawless environment, happy days!

With just these two black boxes, Yoni takes us on an interstellar trip thru #breakbeat, #BigBeat, #HipHop, #IDM, #funk, digital soul and pretty much every other rhythm/groove based electronic music of the past half century. A maximaist influence set, minimally executed to brilliant effect. Delightful.

Okay, here is one I'm sure plenty of #ElectronicMusicians will get.

It's almost a cliche, but I don't really know what #genre of #music I'm making at any given time. The odd time, sure, "that could be hiphop" or good old catch all terms like #IDM or #Electronica can be applied without much issue.

However the real problem arises when you think well perhaps is "BonkWave" or whatever, and then some other #MusicHead who is Full On Bonk Wave Hard says "This is not Bonk Wave"
