If things like #lemmy and #mastodon can't really work together properly,
what's the point of #federating between them?
I'm not even just talking about the awkward shoehorning of lemmy posts into mastodon #boosts, but it's whole features like #polls and comment #images just not working at all.
There isn't any value to federating between services that don't work together. If anything, it's needless overhead on instances.

today I picked up someones #archaeological collection at a garage sale. I believe the items were dug up at a farm in #DeKalb #Texas.
They include a large number of pottery shards, arrow heads, and a bunch of stuff I have no clue about. 😂
I've created an account over at #pixelfed and uploaded a few of the #images. If anyone has insights on these artifacts I'd love to know.
If there is a positive response I can upload more images.

I think a good image description is an art! Doing it exposes how much is implicit in an image.
I'm still new to it, but I've found myself adopting a format similar to the starting scene description in a play, eg:
"daytime; setting; characters (number, sex, age, ethnicity); how they're dressed (colours, styles) what they're doing; facing/looking away from camera; mood; background"
