And while may be true that smart fascism can be more destructive than dumb fascism, the latter can still do a lot of damage. Witness the folks handling the faux impeachment of Biden right now.
There were plenty of ways the #GOP could have kneecapped #Trump. One of the easiest would have been to find him guilty at his #impeachment trial. But the vast majority of GOP politicians were too cowardly to do it. They knew he was guilty. But they were afraid of him/his base/their willingness to do #violence.
