Friendly reminder to help our visually impaired community: avoid hashtags in the middle of your posts
Many people use screen-readers. It can be annoyingly difficult to parse things like "I went to the hashtag store to buy some hashtag bread but I got hashtag screwed when the last loaf was hashtag sole doubt ha ha ha ha"
Please remember to put your hashtags at the end, and make sure to capitalize within the hashtag where appropriate!

Here you can find the first 3 episodes. We will share weekly more:

If your universities want to "level the playing field" in ways that mainly mean that well-to-do students prosper, they're not levelling the playing field, rather they are stacking the deck in favor of those already favored.
Often, faculty laziness (*) plays right into this.
For instance: Exams that assume everyone can memorize the books are very easy to make, and don't require much planning or understanding.
Ultimately, this sort of exam doesn't even require the examiner to have read the book.
*laziness and the never-decreasing administrative busy-work, to be fair
"Kellogg's Froot Loops is catching heat from the anti-woke crowd for its latest move. … The brand is running a promotion on Canadian boxes that links kids to a free digital library … about diversity and inclusion.
The website spills the beans, saying the library was cooked up with the help of BGC Canada and Kids Can Press. They wanted families to dive into topics like kindness, acceptance, and cultural inclusivity."

“Many #BusinessSchools have done a lot of work around gender in recent times, focusing in particular on Athena SWAN accreditation,” says Hoque, referring to an international framework used to support gender equality in higher education. “By comparison, #disability often struggles to garner this level of attention.”
To date, #Canadian governments have struggled to adequately integrate a #disability lens into #ClimatePolicies, #denying #PeopleWithDisabilities meaningful #SocioEconomic #inclusion in our low-carbon future. #WorkersWithDisabilities are more likely to face #systemic #discrimination in recruitment, training & retention & are often unable to secure appropriate #WorkplaceAccommodation.
Public transport \spaces\ classrooms are there to remind us that we need to bear with the presence of one another irrespective of the differences of what we can maintain within our territories . Ofc we try to maintain the distinction by imposing symbols ,exercising the privileges, discrimination, allocation of resources , as basic as air , water as land . That's what all the hue and cry is about. Like who can maintain what, that determines the rules.
Individually everyone stands a fair chance of being tried for what one is on one's own.So anyone aware enough prepares to resign for #society and be self dependent, politically , economically, functionally. For many it's already imposed in form of discrimination, injustice, lack of #inclusion and #diversity and people try tooth an nails to be #social just to be ready enough for the stage when they are on their own , so that their s no going back . Until then they can be trapped any where from prison to refugee camps to asylums to unsafe , hostile envs to what not
why does it even matter to socialize
you dont know , when an why you ll meet your first social opponent , who has better opportunity, skill and intent to socialize ( the last one is rational as, ) he can just make a case against you within his social circle , maybe just expand his\her circle , as the circle expands and onus is upon you to resolve the issue , as the circle on the other side ll just expand nd the case may get stronger , to the point of influencing the judgements which matter to you
what can you do
- safer bet imho ll be , to remeber the judgements there ll eventually affect you if you atay long enough

The first Annual Disabled Student Survey is the largest ever carried out into university accessibility in the UK. They received over 1,300 responses from disabled students and guess what? #HigherEd has a serious problem with #AcademicAbleism.

- What data does my car collect about me and where does it go?
- Risk tolerance: why some countries prefer more complex UIs.
Exciting news: I'm currently working on a short YouTube series about diversity & inclusion (in the games industry)!
These videos will feature a range of topics from gender-inclusive language to gaming accessibility and will be published starting next month.
I'd like to thank Flying Sheep Studios for the opportunity to share this knowledge I've originally compiled to educate our team. These short inputs led to lots of interesting discussions and were very well received so I hope they will be useful for others, too.

P.S. It has just been announced that 261 United Methodist congregations in north Georgia — in that little pocket of the world alone — have left the UMC because they will not, absolutely refuse to, welcome and include LGBTQ people in their church.
Imagine thinking that just any old body should be welcome in a Christian church! The very idea!
What if language didn’t even include a word for “#disability”?
The Xhosa community of AmaBomvane in South Africa does not see disability in a person, and its rituals are mandatory for all people, according to a researcher who spent several years interviewing members of the community.

"Each reform was fiercely opposed, but arguments based on the gospel message of inclusion and equality before God triumphed over those based on a narrow interpretation of scripture. …
In a remarkable essay charting his own change of heart on same-sex relationships, Mr Croft [bishop of Oxford] has written that 'the foundational trajectory of scripture is of recognising … dignity, worth and equality'."
The Guardian explains why it welcomes the decision of the Church of England — at long last — to bless same-sex unions:
"In previous years, the Church of England has changed its position on the remarriage of divorced people in church, the ordination of women and the appointment of female bishops."
I've been sleeping on Tosin Sulaiman's podcast "Made for Us," but just caught the latest episode on innovation + disability inclusion with @microsoft 's Hector Minto. Again, incredible timing to listen in on a conversation like this -- with more and more of my work life being spent in adult education, I have some serious work to do on accessibility to put my work where my values are.
I recently came around to creating a Meta #Wikimedia page for an old project meant to address different inclusivity gaps on #Wikipedia and its sister projects. It comprises learning modules. Use away.
