I’ve been adventuring so much in Dust: an Elysian Tail that I had all the materials to complete each Fale quest tonight in one visit! It was funny just sitting there, solving each quest with a “Here are those materials you asked for, Fale.” without having to venture off to purchase or loot my way to victory.

Every time I listen to an episode of @thomas's Yes Indie'd Pod, I get random ideas about *designing* a game I'll never follow up on, but it's inspiring in the moment and keeps me engaged. His guests are always interesting, and he's always genuinely interested in them, so every episode is a delight, no matter the topic.
"Actual Play" has never been my thing, but Emily C. Friedman even managed to make them interesting, too! 👍🏽
I've adjusted the player knockback force from the wave, it's not the same as from the enemy. The player jumps to avoid being touched again.

I added something like a shock wave, I call it "Hedgehogs". Took the idea from the "False Knight" boss from Hollow Knight. I spent 2 days making this with loops and math, but then I decided to just make it a sprite that always moves and did it in an hour

I forget who was curious the other day, but I broke out my physical copy of @platformalist's game Leaving the Tree today and opened it up again. I had totally forgotten how many cool things were packaged with it. There was so much, it was tough to get a pic on my desk! 😂 I'll try to get some gameplay soon - it's even compatible with most Xbox USB controllers.
The rad wood 256MB USB cart in the middle of the photo contains the game and even more of Andrew's (his Eggnog company's) games too- Maze Dog, Coffee Bug, Winterberry, Cat Bandit, Cake Cat, and more.
Incredible, all of it. Lots of stickers and two-sided character profile cards here too. On the other sides of the cards are little descriptions like on the overturned card in the top right.

When I was 10, I spent hours a day, every day, plonking away with pen and paper and my Atari 130XE, learning Atari BASIC and writing a game. I made a working text adventure game. That was me, being a #gamedev in 1987 and I never lost my passion for it, even though life took me in other directions.
Now I'm 46, and I want to make another game. I started my game dev journey in the same way I'm sure many others have: I decided to make a mod for a game I love, and my first (as an adult) game dev project is a simple one: I'm working on a Detroit map for Mini Metro.
I have two game projects planned: one is an idle game that my son and I are designing. The other is a long-term, more grand adventure game based on the stories and tales my kids and I would make up when they were young.

Only thing to note is there's this truly weird hiccup with each potential partner (past the first one) where you have to do their quest before you can fuse, and fusing is like, the main event of the entire game? and two of them you effectively can't finish their quest until near the end of the game?
Basically don't just run around with your favorite one going "huh wonder when fusing unlocks", know ahead of time that the quest they gave you is the blocker.

I'm happy to say that I have finally started replaying Arcade Spirits (an incredible queer-friendly arcade-loving visual novel by @FictionFactoryGames), in preparation for playing the sequel, and I remembered one of the myriad reasons why I like it: there's penguins hidden everywhere in the background art!
Why? Because penguins are the best, of course, and the devs know it.
(I don't know why, but as long as there's penguins, I'm happy)
