McKinsey's estimate of the 'value' of the world's paper #wealth (the 'speculative, unrealised price' of all financial assets) - is around $160TN - approx. 600% of global #GDP.

Today in Labor History May 26, 1851: Stevedores and longshoreman struck in San Francisco. This was the first documented longshore strike in California. They were demanding six dollars per day, which was a lot in those days. However, the gold rush caused massive inflation and six dollars was not much in light of that. They also were fighting for a nine-hour work day and one dollar per hour overtime. In the wake of this successful strike, organizers formed the Riggers’ and Stevedores’ Association.

Its all very well blaming the global context for #inflation, but what the data shows is that the contribution made to inflation by goods with a low imported element is rising;
goods & services made in the UK, using UK sourced inputs are increasingly significant element in the UK's persistent inflation.
You might want (as the BoE & #JeremeyHunt periodically do) to blame this on #workers' pay rises, but it is profits that seem to be less likely to lag prices rises...

As a person who spent his entire professional life in the tax business, i can attest to the below. The rich, not all, but a lot, think rules do not apply to them.
