Something I hadn't realized for the longest time: #iPhones can do fast charging on the #Lightning port. If I plug it into the USB-C port of a computer or my PD power bank, it charges MUCH faster than if I plug it into a plain old 5v 10w charger.
I only realized this after seeing both 5v and 9v outputs specified on a lightning charger for car socket. I had always thought it was only 5v.
@dennisro Ich hab es nur fürs #IPhone, da ich keinen Mac besitze. Aber wenn man es z.B. mit #Ivory vergleicht… ist es nur etwas mehr als ein Jahresabonnement. (Beide Plattformen) Danach hat man dann aber Ruhe und bei den anderen gehen die Kosten jedoch weiter. Das soll nicht heißen, dass ich es den Entwicklern nicht gönne, aber ich zahle dann doch lieber 1x einen höheren Preis und hab dann Ruhe.

Just found some stick-on Magsafe rings on Amazon and designed a quick holder in preparation for AppleTV/Facetime Continuity camera thing. I tried mocking up something like this years ago by putting an iPad in front of the TV and setting it to Airplay to the TV, but it was pretty clunky.
Looking forward to this iteration. My only doubt is about the audio with the mic on the iPhone across the room.

I’m happy to see that #Apple has added labels to lots of icons in multiple places on #iOS17. It’s been a struggle to help people using their phones in recent years because you have to say: “tap on the icon that looks like xyz” instead of “tap x”. I hope this means they are trying no make the #iPhone easy to use again.

I actually stayed up late enough to do some night photography last night. I used my dslr for most of it, but then grabbed this surprisingly good shot with my cell phone, from my tent, just before turning in!
I had not realized the iPhone will let you do 30s exposures if it is still enough (normally it just shows 10s as the maximum).

#TikTok on #iPhone (16.5) seems to be the only App which avoids the global “Screen Time” setting for downtime, although I’ve checked everywhere and set everything I could think of.
Is this some teenage wizardry (in which case, awesome! And immediately after: thanks for playing, but nope!).
Or is this TikTok doing something tricky?

Two quick tips I've learned to love:
1. If you're actively typing something (a text, an email, a card number in a banking app, etc.), you can hold down the shift "key" in order to freely move the cursor around the screen. Lift your finger to drop the cursor in place. No more trying to pinpoint a tap to get the cursor in exactly the right place.
2. Shazam is now integrated into Siri. You can ask Siri what a song is you're hearing and it'll find it through Shazam.
iOS 17 also comes with the ability to share Find My Items, but they didn't talk about that!

Of course there's no native way to have #Android's and #iPhone's communicate via P2P Wifi connection because #Apple refuses to use the open standard maintained by #google.

I am truly horrified at the number (this may explain why I sometimes find my phone so overwhelming).
Finally figured out how to play an alarm only through headphones on an #iPhone and NOT through speakers (for example when sleeping on a train and you don’t want to miss your stop but also not annoy others):
Open #iOS #Shortcuts, create an automation with a timer and have it play a music track that’ll wake you up. Turn off “ask before running” and “notify when run”.
Connect your headphones, set a good volume, and have a nap.
(Just don’t forget to disable it or else it’ll go off the next day too)
