Nichts gegen Seifenblasen-Bokeh, aber diese altmodischen eckigen Blendenflecke mag ich meist noch ein bisschen lieber :-)

It's day 5 of my self-imposed Winter Photo Advent Calendar thingy. I'm pretty sure I shot this using one of those crappy, plastic, 35mm film cameras with the little Panorama/Normal toggle. It was so cold, the other cameras I had with me just froze.
If you live in the Waterloo Region (as in Ontario, Canada), you should recognize this covered bridge.
Just to have something to motivate myself to post some photos, I've set myself to do a winter photo advent calendar type thing. Hopefully I have 24 winter photos that I like enough to share here. We'll see how it goes.
This is one of my favourite winter photos. Took it with my beloved Hasselblad 500C/M on some random expired film years ago. I entered it in a very non-prestigious photo contest once and I won a camera bag lol.
Nothing new under the sun, but film photography continues to pull Gen Z under its spell https://medium.com/full-frame/film-photography-more-than-just-a-trend-for-gen-z-232f29709da0

Kodak Ektachrome E100GX (C41 cross processing)
Here's a photo from the good, old, peel-apart, instant photography day. Murky Lake Erie is in the background.
This photo was selected to be the cover of a book of our collective work published by a photography group I was a member of on Flickr. It was a surprise considering there were so many other submissions by other members who were better photographers than me.
High above we found the access point guarded by beings disguised as radar weather instrumentation. A step too close and the plastic dome contracts before the whole mushroom structure springs into the air.
Toadies? Quite possibly.
Years ago, I did an experiment for fun. I boiled orange pekoe, mint, green, and pomegranate teas, mixed the concoction with vitamin C and washing soda, and used it to develop a roll of b&w film. This is what I got. I suspect the black spots come from air bubbles (I did a semi-stand development on it) but I'm not completely sure. Lght leaks on the left side is courtesy of my crappy, thrifted, changing bag.
Taken with a Great Wall DF camera on Fuji Acros 100 film.
A while ago I found a Polaroid Big Swinger camera pre-loaded with god-knows-how-old film pack at a thrift store. Of course I had to buy it. This is the best photo to come out of it.
I'm still sad that they discontinuid Fujifilm FP-100C peel-apart film. It's rendered my film back and some of my Polaroid cameras useless. 😕
In the Nova Scotia part of our honeymoon in the Canadian Maritimes 18 years ago, we stopped at a barn where a guy was selling all sorts of things. While looking around, I found this Fujipet EE camera. There was no price tag on it so we had to ask the guy for the price. I was expecting to get ripped off, but nope. It was $5. And that's the story of how I got my very first medium format film camera. 🙂
The second photo was taken with the camera. I have zero interest in cars but somehow found myself at a vintage car show. 🤷🏽♀️
I thought I'd checked on my long-forgotten stash of expired medium format film in the fridge drawer. I didn't realize I still had this many. There are still boxes of film underneath. Many of these are over 20 years expired.
I used to shoot expired film exclusively because they were cheap. I'd go to an annual camera show to buy film for a buck a roll and the random vintage cameras. Those were the days.
If only getting rolls of film developed wasn't such an ordeal or cost an arm and a leg, I'd still be shooting them.
A Troll Passed Through Here
The signs are there, if you know where to look. Broken branches, and trunks. Boulders cast aside, some smashed, many thrown deep within the forest entrance.
A troll passed through here.
This is one of my favourite photos I've ever taken with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye box camera from the 50's. I have several of this camera. Some of them only take 620 film and I would have to re-spool a roll of 120 film to a 620 spool so it would fit in the camera before shooting with it. The things I used to be willing to do to shoot film! 🤣
Burnley and Pendle Bus Service
Drop of nostalgia from 1988. This beauty is an Alexander P bodied Volvo B10M single decker, liveried for Burnley and Pendle.
Love the witch.
St Peters Askham
Throughout the land these bastions of hope still stand strong. When love is all you need the future is never bleak.
(and before I get all the religion grief, no, I'm not religious - I just love big old buildings 😊 )
Someone had to do it: hashtag test, weekly counts as of 12 October 23
These are counts reported by Mastodon as I complete typing a hashtag...
T P Bell
A wonderful ghost sign on Abbey Street in Carlisle, Cumbria, for T P Bell Cycles and Motor-Cycles. Apparently the owners lived in the residential property adjacent. The business closed in the 1980's but the sign remains.
The Research Continues
High above the clouds, unseen by the villagers below, the Baron continues his work. Knowledge is power and your knowledge feeds his research.
The Only Remaining Clue
All they had left to work on was this photograph, pushed under a door within a brown envelope.
