If you install Mastodon from the browser as a PWA, the URL will be incorrect and if you aren't fully hosted and hosted somewhere like @mastohost or similar, you have no way of editing the manifest file to change the URL the PWA points to, so the PWA won't open in Advanced Web View, even if your settings are enabled for it to do so.

One of the reasons why people feel so much #alienation from #science is that no relevant connections are offered for their lives.
We need to think beyond #industry, #government, and #engineering when we think about #practical #applications of scientific #research. #Philosophy, #politics, and #art are relevant applications as well, and often more personal to people who feel alienated from science as we know it.
Nuclear physics feels more relevant when you're talking about Geiger counters being used to assess accident sites than when you're talking about them being used at bomb testing sites, even though the physics is essentially the same. Biochemistry feels more relevant when you're talking about water testing to monitor aquatic ecosystems for toxins than when you're talking about quality control for PepsiCo, even if you're talking about pH testing in both cases. Astronomy feels more relevant when you're talking about beautiful, profound JWST images that taught you something that amazed you about the universe we live in, than when it's a simple list of "fun facts" about galaxies. Chemistry feels more relevant when you get to try an experiment yourself in different ways, than when you're watching someone else do it formulaically.
Because one directly impacts people's lives for the better in meaningful ways, and the other causes harm, exists only for profit, or is totally abstract. One involves the #active #participation and #engagement of the learner with their own #curiosity, and the other is being lectured to by someone who thinks they know what's "really" important.
If you want to #interest more people in #learning and science, ask them #questions. Emphasize the #process of science, don't treat it as a set of established #facts. Engage with #issues of #representation and #ethics in your field, as well as #interdisciplinary work. Don't do work that harms people. Be honest about your work, it's implications, and how you feel about it; don't perpetuate the cold, devious "mad scientist" trope. And find ways to make your work felt positively in people's lives. Change what a #scientist is, and what science is for.

I also look forward to see how Twitter responds to this. Many #opensource projects are actually very hesitant to introduce pull requests and issues by the community which are not direct bug fixes. For those of you who want to #contribute to #Mastodon source code but have no idea where to start with #opensource.
Check out the "beginner friendly" tag in the #issues on #Github. It contains issues that are far simpler.
So it will help you get your feet wet and get the feel for the code, as well as learn how such a big project works and handles contributions.
They are far more lenient and open there expecting beginners. The other issues are a bit higher level, which could lead to your own frustration or from the community.
I find it stupid and sometimes shameful to see FLOSS projects ignoring bug reports (or close without looking closely) or replying with "PRs welcome". The bug reporters don't want to annoy the developers, they want to help and get help if necessary.
I also find it stupid to automatically close an issue after a certain time. This does not make the problem go away.

People can't see all of the replies to a post. They think they are the first to say something when they are the 6th or 7th.

Honestly you should suggest this on their #github either in the #issues or the #discusson board.
I thought you only have to do one SSR or SSG.
And I also think their SSR is good enough as only minute amount of js (optimiser / loader) are sent to the browser, the rest is either lazy loaded or loaded on interaction.
There is no hydration in qwik the biggest advantage.
They have resumability; that means all state is sent in html and no re-render on client.
