Well, it looks like the news of the kangaroo that went missing just got weirder. While the animal was located & apprehended, apparently the kangaroo punched the Durham Police officer who tried to capture it lol.

In news oddity today, a kangaroo is on the loose in Oshawa. A kangaroo destined for a zoo in Quebec was supposed to stay overnight at the Oshawa Zoo when the animal managed to escape its handlers. The kangaroo proved elusive and is still on the run.

I spent 10 days in Australia and saw one (ONE!) kangaroo. To be fair, I was in a meeting room on an island most of the time. But that kangaroo was a sight. It was huge and appear up the top of a hill, bouncing along. It stopped to look at us before bouncing away.

Melville Caves are located in #KooyooraStatePark, #Brenanah#Australia.
They’re located in #centralvictoria #Australia in a small township named #Brenanah.
Exploring the caves was truly amazing. And we even had some friendly locals drop by for a visit!
Fun Fact; These caves are named after notorious bushranger Captain Melville who used the caves as a hiding place and lookout in the mid 19th century.

As Monday drifts to a close, I'd like to introduce you to the latest #MacropodMonday entrant.
It has no name and is gender fluid (in other words it could be either).
What you are seeing is a macropod, hanging from the pouch of a macropod.
Macropod means "big foot" which it certainly has. It's around 1/3rd of the body length. When fully grown and at speed it will cover 20 feet in one hop.
Mother is Winter and the joey is around 5 months old. It has no fur yet but that is starting and the joey is what we call a "velvet", and will be called so, until the fur starts to cover it over the next month.

Most of you will never see one of these because there are very few around. That's you Australians. You people who plan to come here to visit. To see kangaroos, #wallabies and wallaroos, best do it soon before our #farmers #slaughter all of them.
This little 1kg girl has no name yet. She came in an hour ago. She is a sub species of #wallaroo called a Euro (Macropus Robustus Erubescens).
Her mother was #shot by a #farmer who no longer has the balls to smash the tiny babies against his ute. He brings them to me to make himself feel better. He had misidentified her mother as a grey #kangaroo as well, so not only doesn't he care, he can't see properly either.
She brings to 9 the number I'm raising in the house. #Formula 8 times a day. Grain and hay for bigger animals is becoming a struggle. Some are being released this week, but some help would be wonderful.
If someone finds it within their means to #donate $500 which has happened once before, they can name her.
Had to do an overnight-away-from-home work thing recently and was delighted to see some of the local kangaroos 🦘😍
I thought it'd make a cool sticker. It was cooler in my head but oh well.

Many #animals are still alive when they are dismembered before being trucked for #processing.
Not enough people know about dog food and shoe leather sourced from the kangaroo mob. Today's #megafauna is the red #kangaroo. This #australia native can grow to 200 lbs and stand over 6 ft tall. They can hop forward at 37 mph and are powerful swimmers.
Human development has created overabundant kangaroo populations in some places by providing permanent water sources, creating pastures, and eliminating predators such as the Tasmanian Tiger and, in many areas, the dingo.
Female kangaroos can keep embryos in a dormant state until they are ready to be pregnant. Pregnancy lasts only a month before the joey emerges into its mother's pouch, where it feeds on milk for 6 months before leaving the pouch. Joeys can feed on milk for another 6 months after that, but are fully independent of the pouch by 8 months. Mothers can have young in all these states at once, and produce different milk for different offspring.
