It's easy for me to drop everything and care for someone I love, but it's hard to do that for myself. Lately, I've been trying harder to treat myself like someone I love. Sure, I can remember every one of my shortcomings, but I can forgive myself and love myself anyway. And doing nice things for myself is a good way to start showing that love.

Alexa encourages good manners more than Siri does.
When #Alexa reads me my notifications and I say, “Thank you”, she says, “You’re welcome.”
#Siri says …nothing.
To my mind, that’s kinda sad. She’s not real, but she sounds real enough. And I don’t want to get out of the habit of being polite to people who help me to do things.
Also, #Apple, can Siri please learn to whisper like Alexa can? That’s a feature I'd really appreciate!
Even when we can't see the best in ourselves, I firmly believe that there are always people who can see it. :sky:

Just told this cute little old lady how adorable her haircut is (not lying, she's super cute!) and she blinked at me and said, "Mine?!"
When I confirmed she lit up, thanked me and said "I needed that!"
I said "Thumper's mom said 'If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all!'"

Jump forward many months to yesterday. My new insurance card has arrived with my new (legal!) name on it. I had to pick up a prescription anyway, so I brought the new card with me, hoping that she would be the one working the counter - I really wanted her to be the one to make the change.
Luck was with me and she was working last night, so with considerable glee I showed her my new insurance card. She was delighted and promptly updated my name, properly this time, in the computer. I was laughing that the prescription I just picked up was the last one with my old name.
And then this happened: she asked me to hang on a minute, took the prescription to the back room for a minute, then brought it back to me. I looked down and discovered that she had reprinted the label and paperwork so the name would be Daphne, all so I could see it on a prescription right away. (2/2)
My local pharmacy has a policy that they will only use the name on the insurance as the name on the prescriptions. Months ago, I was picking up my meds, and the woman behind the counter looked at what I was picking up, looked at the meds under my name in the computer, gave me a little smile, lowered her voice a bit, and told me "You know, if you want, I can put a different name in the system for you. I can't change the legal name because of policy, but I can add a chosen name in parenthesis."
Ever since then, she and I have always had a smile for each other, and when she's the person on when I pick up meds, we chat.
I've told the story of that kindness before, but last night something rather special happened. (1/2)
Btw, I've gotten really harsh criticism for just saying "Be kind"... that won't stop me from saying it. We can always be kind and I can say "be kind" out of kindness. Encouraging to kindness is not rudeness and I can't wrap my head around it why would it be anything else than focusing on the positive side of things.
There are always people who focus on negativity, pessimism and hate. Whatever hits me, I choose to smile. #Positivity #Kindness #Attitude
