It’s #WonkyWednesday again, and here’s a dark page from my distant past. One of my teachers made me realize how important “learning to see” was when making art. He asked us if we considered ourselves good observers and immediately challenged us to draw from memory things written on little papers we pulled at random from a tin… it was a humbling but eye-opening experience 😅

Manchmal hängt dir ein massiver Stein am Bein. Sometimes you have a massive stone hanging from your leg.

Ein Mann in Shorts versucht mit letzter Kraft ein Gebäude zu erklimmen, das den Stuttgarter Bahnhofsturm darstellt. Am rechten Fuß des Kletterers ist mit einem Seil ein massiver runder Felsbrocken festgeknotet. Rechts von ihm ragt der Rottweiler TK Elevator Testturm empor. Im Hintergrund erstreckt sich eine Flusslandschaft mit Apfelbäumen, Feldern und Windrädern. Der bewegte Himmel ist teilweise von der gemusterten Plane eines Zirkuszeltes verhängt.

Ein Sturm zog auf und fegte den Tapferen Zinnsoldaten und die kleine Tänzerin hinweg.
A storm was rising and swept away the Brave Tin Soldier and the Little Dancer.

Ein gepflasterter Weg führt über einen Steg und verläuft durch ein lebhaft gemustertes zylindrisches Gebäude. Im Vordergrund überbrückt der Weg einen Bachlauf, auf dem ein Papierschiffchen schwimmt. Darin steht ein Zinnsoldat. Ein kleines Mädchen schaut vom Steg auf ihn hinunter. Weiter im Raum tanzt eine Ballerina einsam auf einer Wiese. Eine mehrbogige Brücke bildet den Hintergrund. Der darunter hindurch fließende Fluss verschwindet hinter dem Zylinder-Gebäude. Am Horizont zieht ein schweres Unwetter herauf.
