Sneak peek
I'm close to finishing the pattern for a pair of wristlets that go with the "Seven Poncho" I recently released.
Hopefully I can publish this week. Totally out of season for my part of the world but there always winter somewhere.

It has been a while since I posted about the progress on the second sock for my youngest! I'm almost at the blue part of the yarn 😃

World Wide Knit in Public Day also in #europe next weekend:, June 10th 2023:
"#WWKIPDAY is unique, in that it’s the largest knitter run event in the world. Each local event is put together by a volunteer or a group of volunteers. ... Celebrate the passion for knitting with fellow knitters around the world. You can be a beginner or maybe you have been knitting for years – everybody is welcome!"
This story started in Lapland, in December. My hubby had no scarf to wear while skiing. After, I knitted him one. I finished it, but still had 2 balls of yarn left. What to do? A matching hat! I improvised 100%, but used measurements from Strömsö.
Now to wait and see if it actually fits his head or not...
It feels a bit ridiculous now (heat wave and all), but it's ready for next winter.
I finally understood why almost so many hats are k2p2 instead of k1p1!

I probably won't be done this month but I'm planning my next sock project
I previously made fingerless mitts with this theme
Uh I think there was a hashtag for this other than #knitting?

My newest shawl. Details in my blog post for the knitters. https://theknittingdoctor.com/2023/06/03/four-months-later/ #knitting #knittersofmastodon

My current knitting WIP, using gorgeous Rain of the Roses yarn. I love knitting shawls - so addictive and so soothing!

My intro says I love knitting, but until now I haven’t posted a project. Here’s the largest item I’ve ever made - a wool blanket, 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. I got the yarn at O’Maille in Galway, Ireland. I knitted just a few rows per day in February through November 2020. It lives on my reading chair in our bedroom, and I love wrapping up in its comfort.
What’s the largest project you’ve ever done?

#StashDivesaturday I did some thinking on a new shawl design using this yarn. It's Hearthside Fibers Crystal in "Lake", a 50% Merino, 50% Tencel fingering weight yarn. I have another skein of it in a lovely hazelnut brown color. Stay tuned for more about this new design 😉

I’ve got a new colorway out! Decided to name this one Beachcomber after a suggested name from a nice customer. This is dyed up on BFL, one of my favorite wools. @fiberarts #crochet #knitting #MastoArt

Wolle ist die Regia Pairfect 4-Fach und das Muster… bin ich mir noch nicht so ganz sicher was es denn werden soll.

“Red Oak” merino alpaca fingering yarn. There are just two skeins, which came back from @sealymacwheely as I did another restock on Thursday. She’s now had thirty new colourways in the last week or so, making today a great day to visit her shop if you’d like to see my yarn in person along with much much more as it’s a fabulous shop for fibre loving hand crafters of all kinds.

Good Evening, Knitterati! Check out Jill Wolcott. She's marvelous, and the hand-knit industry's unofficial Fit Wizard." She has a robust website too. 🤗🧶💞!
"My love is knitting, not sewing, so I design so that as much as possible is done on the knitting needles with sewing only as absolutely necessary. This isn’t necessarily a shortcut, but I think it works really well for those who don’t love the finishing process"
Are you ready for Tour de Fleece? Have you been thinking about joining this year? How’s your fiber stash? Have you thought about some goals? It starts July 1st!
Tour de Fleece is a celebration of all things spinning that takes place during the Tour de France. Spinners are encouraged to set personal goals to complete during the event. It’s not competitive; rather, it’s a chance for some camaraderie with other spinners!

Started #Knitting the left Kingston Mitt. Next up is the thumb and finger of the left mitt.
The pattern is DS166 Kingston Mitts by Elizabeth Decker for Webs' Valley Yarns who also made the yarn; Hardwick in color 10 Plum, that I got as a gimme bag gift for that winter WEBS knitting conference. The yarn is a chunky alpaca-wool-silk blend that is LUXURIOUSLY soft.
The pattern is very dedicated to DPN's as it uses 'go to X-stitch-on-needle-Y' a bunch... Luckily I happened to have four size 7 Dual Pointed Needles on hand and figured I might as well try knitting the first two mitts (I may be able to get several pairs of mitts from this 100 gram skein) with them to see if I wanna try adapting the pattern to dual circular needles (which will require some needle-enginerding as I don't have enough Chiaogoo red lace bits for two pairs in size 7 on both ends).

If you're into the yarnbothering crafts (not my word but so grateful for it!), the ULA+LIA Kickstarter is live for #cashmere, yak, camel, and sheep/cashmere yarns direct from Mongolian herder coops and partnering with multiple fibre coops.
I've had #yarn through multiple campaigns from ULA+LIA for 5 years so far and it's always high quality, good colours, and I've never had a tangled or knotted skein. Hoping for blonde and raspberry baby camel yarn this year!

I’m still waiting on my PCR results that will arrive tomorrow, but I think I’m nearing the end of my Covid quarantine #knitting, so I wanted to document my progress. I’ve knit all the mini skeins in my stash to create 30 #hexipuffs for #TheBeekeepersQuilt, bringing my total to 77 hexipuffs. It’s not even close to being a blanket yet, but it’s approximately 38.5 hours of knitting total.

Das diesjährige Linello Experiment ist fertig. Im Prinzip sogar weniger aufwändig als die Pullis vom letzten Jahr.

@LoraHughes Thank you Lora, it ended up being a blast to knit. I got off to a truly bumpy start but then it was smooth sailing. I might make it again in the future even, am looking at some others she designed to do next too, like this one, called Cactus Flower. Or one of the new Stephen West designs... So many shawl patterns, so little time!
Hey there Knitterati! A super-fun opportunity from Blue Sky Fibers to submit YOUR knit and crochet designs for their Autumn/Winter 2024 pattern release. They are seeking designs of both garments and accessories. Click link for submission guidelines. What a blast!
Want to support #LGBTQ creators this month (and always)? If I was a knitter, I'd sure be tempted by these wool skeins from @inherentlee:
#FlashbackThursday Two weeks ago, I posted about often combining the braided join with the felted join, when using feltable yarn. Here is the link to the photo tutorial I made about this joining technique 😃

I did it! I (almost) finished the MKAL Falderal Shawl by Romi Hill. After a tough start, this was a pleasure to knit. Next step - blocking, pinning out all the lace points. More pix follow!

Librarians know that handling books can be a filthy job. I've found something equally bad — sorting through a large stash of loose buttons trying to find 5 the same in the right colour for the cardigan I'm knitting. I found 3. 👍 Close enough. #knitting #sewing #librarians #librarian
I'm finishing a jacket to match the little baby pants and Elizabeth Zimmerman's generalized directions may have scarred me for life.

Best laid plans ...
I'm knitting a top down yoked garment. I've done that before, I've calculated that before, I know about the percentage system and I know it works for me.
Then when I got to the point where the sleeves are divided on a whim I cast on only half of the amount I had calculated.
Why? Don't know.
Of course it doesn't work.
Good thing I realized that 3 rounds in ... More ripping.
@sewing @RandomYarning Here’s a knitting wool stand made from the insets of plastic cotton reels glued together and painted black. One twelfth scale. #miniatures #knitting #sewing

I finished #knitting some socks. Just plain stockinette with a garter stitch short row heel, no pattern

2 rows to go plus the bindoff row on the shawl I’m making for my future daughter in law (for the party). 643 stitches on the needle! Love & blessings knitted into every stitch. I’ll share a photo when it’s finished. Their wedding is on Friday so I’m racing to finish & block it! Wish me luck! Bo laying his keppe on the shawl while I’m eating dinner, sending his love & blessing too. 🤣 #knitting #love #wedding #shawlknitting #doodle #dogsofmastodon

Not sure whether this should be the galaxy brain meme or the clown makeup one, but:
Frame 1: Using a crochet hook to pick up a ladder in knitting
Frame 2: Yanking the needle out of the instep of your sock-in-progress and fixing it stitch by stitch with a crochet hook
Frame 3: It's mosaic knitting
So yeah, how's everyone else's afternoon going?
POV: You're trying to decide if you can get away with just stopping the sleeve here because omg the tedium 😩
I "need" another #knitting (or #crochet) project. Yes, I really do.
Even with at least two ongoing ones (we're ignoring anything "old" here).
Reason: meeting of knit group in (looks at watch) two hours. And both my current projects are at a state where working on them requires way more attention than I'm able to pay when simultaneously chatting with (looks at list of attending people) 15+ other knitters and crocheters.
Good thing I've an extensive stash of sock yarn. @knitting @fiberarts
This is Rebel, my first gnome, named for the company I got the yarn from, Rebel Woolworks (RIP). The gnome turned out… ok. I would do certain things differently next time (stuff with more poly beads and less fluff; attach the arms lower down). The gnome is a gift for my neighbor though. I hope she likes Rebel! #knitting #fiberarts #handmade @knitting @fiberarts #gnome
Got asked if I would consider licensing one of my more popular patterns for commercial kits. No mention of terms or compensation. Also, they contacted me on Etsy, rather than directly (easy to find my email on my website with a quick search)
IDK does this seem a little suss? I feel like they could have put in more effort if they really wanted to work with me 🤷♀️ #Knitting
