I tried converting a Docker compose file to #Podman kube file, but the way Podman picks super long names for everything means it is truncating lines.

Whoops, when looking into my #Kubernetes cluster I noticed a bit of a mess.
Someone clearly wasn't doing their job, and so rubbish was piling up all over the place.
With a bit of adjustment of the verbosity level in the kube-controller-manager, learned why my garbage collector was unhappy. It couldn't read a particular API endpoint and that made it so unhappy, that it refused to work at all.
After a bit of listening and taking care of the #calico, I got it fixed:

Mayfly Operator allows you to have your resources on your cluster for a temporary time. It deletes those resources from the cluster, according to the Mayfly expiration annotation that you set to specify how long the resource should remain active. This can be used to create temporary resources, temporary accesses, or simply to keep your cluster organized and tidy.

Achievement Unlocked. Since years I was dreaming of a smart and automated solution to issue and renew x509 certificates from an own CA.
Today it came true. With a simple #kubernetes yaml file we're able to request certificates from an cert-manager issuer that talks to the hashi corp vault cluster, running on an other k8s cluster, holding the Root CA and an intermediate CA the certs get signed of.
I think it's wonderful ;)

@paul I think the main reason #kubernetes has been so successful (or, that something like it would be; what follows does not at all explain why #k8s seems to beat its competitors, just why there is something to compete for in this space) is not simplicity per se - kubernetes is not simple!
What it does well, though, is standardize how to create common abstractions for basically any infra! This in turn lets platform teams to build on top of each other. Standing on shoulders...

If I have a Deployment with 2 replicas that provides a HTTP interface exposed as a Service and I call that HTTP endpoint from a different Deployment, should I get Round Robin'd across both instances or will their be something like "sticky" sessions? Since I'm using the service name I assume it should rotate?
External access via Ingress pointed at same service is switching replicas

This is still in the realms of dirty hacks, but might actually be useful to people now :)
I refactored my #Kubelet configuration dumping utility to use the /configz endpoint via the #Kubernetes API Server proxy.
This means you can dump the configuration of any Kubelet regardless of the distribution in use.
The previous method relied on starting pods on the nodes and reading files but that's error prone as they are put in different paths depending on the distro.
The endpoint is a bit unsupported/undocumented, but for now at least it works fine :)
Btw one #k8s project I had one wish list but didn’t know about is k8gb, a cloud native #Kubernetes Global Balancer.
