🚨Business Chiefs urge Labour to consider fantastic plan to #RejoinEU under new membership scheme🚨
Bosses of the BMPA, Cold Chain Federation & the British Chambers of Commerce, welcomed any proposals which would reduce #Brexit trade friction
Under the Associate Membership Plan, outer-tier countries would be expected to contribute to the EU’s annual budget in exchange for participation in the bloc’s single market, which #EU insider's say was designed with #Labour in mind
Well, this is all rather telling about the integrity of some Labour candidates, and of the Labour machine that has ridiculously defended this particular candidate.
If the term 'Communications Consultancy' was meant to be a "generic" term, why were both words capitalised and why didn't a comms person not know this was wrong? Quite apart from why a non-existent company was linked to it!

New Statesman : Who would win if an election was held today?
How the House of Commons would look according to our latest UK election modelling
🔴 Labour: 415 (+213)
🔵 Conservative: 153 (-212)
🟠 Lib-Dem: 28 (+17)
⚫ Other: 54 (-18)
Worth a read. Also note it's not adjusted for a potential Lib-Dem upside via tactical voting. Enjoy

"Starmer has taken more freebies than all Labour leaders since 1997 combined"
Well "centre" (by definition) is between one extreme and the other ... I am not sure once can define a scale for political position, but quite obvisuously the centre is not on either end
Given that the right state repeatedly that #Labour is too far left, and the left that it is too far right, I am not sure anyone can demonstrate it is one side or the other of this mythincal "centre"
@jackLondon i dont care where you choose to define as "the centre"
Place that wherever you like on the imaginary left-right spectrum -its still protecting the wealthy at the expense of children
Sainsbury has been contributing to Labour for decades.... nowt new there
The idea #labour was a socialist party along Corbynist lines prior to Blair is a fantasy - it always was a wide group with leadership nearer the centre-left than the left
When we had large organised manual unions, few members were socialists - it was always an obsession of the leftist university educated members to impose such a vision on the country
Failure to recognise that leads to repeated defeat
In the interests of balance, another poll claims it’s the other way round. Mind you YouGov are good on polling for elections but I don’t trust them on social attitudes
At any rate the streets are safer and quieter now and I doubt it’ll stay a major issue for long
Projected results for the Senedd from @LeftieStats, who’s here but rarely posts (they’re not even on Bluesky)
Good to see Plaid as the main opposition and a seat for the Greens
The Tories would lose 7 seats although 6 of those would go to other right wing parties
I've yet to hear ANY #tory or #Labour make sense on climate. When covid first hit and we went into lockdown, with all the daily briefings etc. we had a glimpse of the level of action we'd need to tackle #CO2
We still have covid, yet for the sake of the sacred 'economy' we ditched all control measures. So it is with #climate -
Business as usual.
They only think in electioneering terms. Not a pair of bollocks between the lot of them.
It's down to us. The small guys.

@raymo unfortunately the current Labour team have shackled the UK to outdated monetarist theories, and will deliver more life-destroying austerity, in the name of "fiscal responsibility". Sure, the Tories will be gone but their monetarily policies will continue under Rachel Reeves. That will be a tragedy for my neighbours.

“What’s on his front bench shows Starmer’s Abbott attack ‘standards’ excuse is nonsense”
“Starmer’s briefed defenders have told their media allies that the regime’s continued and escalating attack on Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP Diane Abbott – the UK’s first Black woman MP – have been to maintain ‘standards’.
Now former Corbyn speechwriter Alex Nunns has published a thread on what used to be Twitter, listing just a few of the examples of racism by Labour MPs who are still in the party and in many cases on Starmer’s front bench – exposing the lie that this has anything to do with ‘standards’”
🚨Labour rejects claims it wants to ‘unpick #Brexit’ after Starmer EU comments🚨
What Starmer actually said:
"There's currently no case for rejoining the EU, so Labour will focus on making Brexit work better". The operative word is CURRENTLY!
How can Brexit be better without rejoining the EU, Single Market or Customs Union? Closer alignment. It's implied!
There's no seat at the EU table or votes, but our views will be acknowledged

Tax cuts 'virtually impossible' at present, says Jeremy #Hunt
Almost certainly this is a tactic to enable springing a last minute tax cut on a "grateful" nation months before the GE
It will of course by "unaffordable" by all normal measures of fiscal prudence - but the #toriesOut will do it anyway - and blame #labour when it has to be reversed post-election - since it will not be enough to retain #sunak in power...
"Voters aren’t talking about Brexit, says Lib Dem leader"
The Tweedledee of England's opposition doesn't want to talk about Brexit. Oh no. This follows Tweedledum's fantastic thinking about rewriting the EU withdrawal agreement.
Oh well, at least the Green Party will go into the election with a firm and honest statement on Europe. I should know, as I'm helping write it.
Voters aren’t talking about #Brexit, says Lib Dem leader
Or you could join the #SNP who are happy to build fantasy on fantasy by proposing first indyRef2 then independence then EU membership..... sometime!
You deliberately pick examples of things everyone wants (eg functional NHS) which are not actually policies, but in reality are upset there is no commitment to the policies that lost those elections like nationalising the energy industry...
Clearly Tories don't intend to fight the next #GE in the realm of reality.

FFS, the party of our (probable) next government cant even commit to spending to fix schools - but can be a "lead player"

#ClimateDiary A few (uniformed) thoughts on #RishiSunak’s speech yesterday - the #Tory row back on #NetZero. Mainly i just found it depressing in so many ways; calling people who ask for more #ClimateAction “ideological zealots” etc etc
Hopefully once in power #Labour will reverse this, but all the confusion and pampering to those unwilling to change (industry and “freedom” lovers) hugely damaging; especially as #Starmer will probably respond trying to please those, too 1/2
Trade unions wanted employment law devolved, Sarwar said he was good with that. Now Keith has told him he's not good with that so he's not.
The UK's in such a mess & broke with a debt/GDP ratio of 101.1%, if #Starmer promises anything substantantial, the first thing they'll be hit with is "So how're you going to pay for this?"
Policy pledges not adding up is political suicide. In this respect #Labour are hamstrung. There's only so much scope Labour can be afforded, but the electorate seemingly understand this
The last thing Labour want to do is lose the financial prudence argument by making wild, uncosted promises.
Well i thing there is a fair amount of selective editting in your comments..... much of the text concerns preventing any repetition of the #vacuumOfIntegrity imposing whitehall's will on devolved matters by primary legislation in the Palace of Westminster
The fact #snp fans attack #labour but do not bother with the #toriesOut speaks volumes about where they see the threat to their political dominance, but nothing at all about the relative merits of the parties
Talk about bitter & pointless! 🙄
For several years I've asked this question in respect to Corbyn, NOT ONE of his disciples has been honest enough to give me an answer, let alone an honest one.
Why can't they just move on & leave Labour alone?
On page 105, #Labour go on to meddling in the organisation of local government in Scotland. That is very clearly a devolved matter. If a #Labour government in #Westminster so much as whisper about it, that is rolling back devolution.
It should be noted that Scotland's overlarge local government areas are a product of previous #Labour gerrymandering, solely aimed at creating jobs for their boys.
Yes, we need reform -- but we will do it ourselves, thank you.
HOWEVER, every time I ask what the far left's solution is, they don't have one! 🙄
2/ But there's a few issues.
2. Jezza was leader, so regardless of what was suggested to him by his shadow cabinet, it was HIS decision to make a #Brexit confirmatory referendum party policy.
3. Jezza resigned.
4. #Starmer threw his leadership cap in the ring & won.
5. Starmer had to modify his message to reform, heal & rebuild Labour.
Happy you took the trouble to stop & read some of it - even if only to find what you think is a flaw
It's unclear what point you're trying to make - is it that some of the money spent in #Scotland is centrally directed - eg Defence - other UK expenditure is also on behalf of the whole UK eg Embassies, foriegn aid
You need independence for your own army....
I get it! You HATE the guy & blame his & other Labour MP's calls for a confirmatory referendum, on your Messiah Jezza losing badly in #GE2019.
In contrast to #toriesOut who have done nothing in 13 years
#scotland is not a region, but a separate country with 1000 years of history before 1706 - this is not just a matter of politics & economics but also cultural identity
So long as they are tied to #England scots will be subservient to Whitehall & the independence will appeal
I am definitely sympathetic to scots wanting free of english domination - the Union no longer serves a purpose & if I were a Scot I would be #SNP - however..... reality is the cause of independence is on hold for the duration, and #labour will take a number of seats from them - possibly as many as 10
@AnthonyFStevens We've seen the catastrophy of #Brexit - which Scotland voted resoundingly against; we've seen thirteen years of quite astonishing incompetence and corruption under the #Conservatives; we're about to see a continuation of more or less exactly the same policies under #Labour.
Most people don't start to think seriously about the #ScottishIndependence question until a referendum is called; when it's called, there will again be a broad, vibrant grass roots campaign.
Who'll own the territorial waters & defend them?
If I was gunning for #ScottishIndependence I'd outline every last issue & pitfall & give a detailed solution to how it'd work in practice.
Now back to #Labour. Look how they've switched tactics & are now creating the UK's political narrative?
There's lessons to be learned for the #Scots.

This is the issue Michael. You're completely missing the point that in opposition, all #Labour are is an ideological talking shop.
In order to effect change, we need power first BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! Only then & with a large workable majority can Labour express themselves.
As things stand, the slightest sniff we give the #Tories, they use it as an ideological smokescreen to blindside & distract the public
Nope! Labour are giving the Tories nothing, as they devour themselves
Your choice mate. The "Socialists" haven't gone anywhere. It seems they just infest the political wilderness with their bitterness & bile, & would prefer another 5 years of #Sunak's #Tories than a #Labour government led by anyone else but Jeremy #Corbyn.
His Messiah-like leadership & the cultist disciples who followed him was always gonna end in tears.
Why don't they just reform under the #SocialistWorkersParty with Corbyn as leader, & Abbott & McDonnell as their executive? 🤔

What the far left don't get is the UK is by & large a Centre Right country.
We've NEVER had a far left #Socialist government, even under Atlee & Bevin, & their postwar welfare revolution.
The closest the far left have come is Foot in the early 80s, & #Corbyn between 2015-2020.
Even then, Corbyn ballsed up the Brexit vote, & lost in 2017/19 🤷🏾♂️

Just in case you had *any* doubts just how Tory #Labour has become:
“Labour MSPs backed the Tories”
That’s Labour, the Party that pretends it puts people first.
Labour isn’t ‘progressive’, it’s now a conservative reactionary irrelevance of a party that is so bereft of principles it has to steal other party’s policies to see if they can get a few votes off them.
Labour is dead in Scotland — its so weird that they just keep on pissing on their own grave…
England can bury them too. #VoteGreen
Nope. You're just deluded far left Corbynista cultists, who follows the man, & not #Labour. If not, answer my question...
I'm STILL waiting for a reply from any of you! Why? ⏳ 😳
It's simple. I asked a legitimate question SEVERAL times, & you've ALL neglected to answer it, & if you were honest people, you've admit why! 😳
I can easily answer the question, because I don't possess a cult personality.
