Hello. I recently took a look at the works being done at the #AustralianWarMemorial and you might be interested in these photos. Sharing without comment on the merits or otherwise of what's underway.

Looking up #AnzacParade to the Memorial, a large crane breaks the view of Mount Ainslie behind it. Street level at the top of the Parade is a wide stretch of scaffolding covered by an image of the building's usual front vista.

From the lookout at Mount Ainslie some of the ground works being hidden by the scaffolding are visible.

Including a classic view looking down from Mount Ainslie, along the Parade and across the lake to old and new parliament houses and other national buildings in the parliamentary triangle. Stunning.

Standing on the shore of a small cove on a large lake. A narrow peninsula is maybe 50 feet away across the water. It is covered with tall trees, as is a second peninsula beyond to the right across a small channel of water. These two peninsulas form the cove. There are a few hemlocks on the peninsulas, the rest of the trees are hardwoods that have lost most of their leaves. Those that remain are brick red or golden brown past peak colors. In the media it's described that it gives the impression of a surreal portal that seems to lead directly into the earth's core or another world...
Actually it's a man-made tunnel constructed in 1955. The purpose of the tunnel was to redirect water from Ribeira das Naves to Lagoa Comprida.

We are alongside the shore of a lake. The flat ground in front of us is covered with small bright green leady shoots speckled with hundreds of little yellow flowers. Several dark gray boulders rise above this low ground cover in the foreground. The far lakeshore has a wide strip of these plants, which resemble grass from a distance. Beyond that strip, a low wooded ridge rises. The sun is low in the sky not far above that ridge, partially burning through the haze and looking enormous. The sky is a swirl of thin clouds and haze around the sun, tinted pale orange and gold. The sky and far shore are mirrored on the dead clam lake surface.
