Selbst die #progressive #Linke, von der wir angesichts ihrer Umweltagenda erwarten könnten, dass sie am lautesten ist, hat die Rolle der #Tierhaltung beim #Klimawandel und anderen kritischen Umweltbereichen wie dem Verlust der biologischen Vielfalt kaum anerkannt.

We just enrolled 25 of our 27 acres in the Indiana Classified Forest and Wildlands Program. It's been "wild" for years, but it just became a much bigger advantage tax-wise. If we farmed the land -- and added lots of nutrients and sediment to the water supply -- taxes would stay low. 🤷♂️

Understanding Nick Land: askphilosophy
Nick #Land came up in a particular academic culture, that of “continental philosophy” in Britain in the 1980s and 1990s. Britain was then as it is now dominated by analytic philosophy: the tradition beginning (in disparate ways) with #Frege, Russell, Moore, the Vienna Circle, Wittgenstein, and so on. I won’t go into the details of that history, but the upshot is that by the time that Land was making his name so-called “Continental Philosophy”, which focused on European philosophers from whom the analytic tradition sharply diverged decades earlier, was sharply maligned in British academic philosophical culture to the extent that controversies around (for example) the award to Jacques Derrida of an honorary degree from Cambridge reached the newspapers.
“Continental Philosophy” doesn’t just mean “any philosopher from Europe”, but in anglophone philosophy departments was a label used for a particular subset of those European and particularly French philosophers who it was perceived had quite radical takes on philosophy and life, such as the aforementioned Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault, and Gilles Deleuze.

tbh, everyone should read this article because it shows just how messed up the water situation is on the islands.
it also shows the confusing ways that colonialism has operated here & how it continues to operate. i've seen property records that show native hawaiian owners in one year, then 5 years later, mysteriously, there's a western name listed, despite no record of a sale. this was in the 50s/60s. this stuff is common.
it's important to recognize that a big part of the strategy of colonialism here is creating these convoluted legal histories that end up hiding whatever might have really happened, but at the end of the day, somehow the land is no longer yours and the water is no longer yours either.
so yea, read the article. it IS confusing. that's how colonialism works around here.

The First Nations Clean Energy Network was recently with First Nations people from South Australia talking about the state government’s proposed hydrogen and renewable energy act.
Protecting country, cultural heritage and native title, and being resourced to participate, negotiate, and consent are some of the issues being discussed.
The government says talking to First Nations people as a first point of call will be embedded in the new Bill. They want to make the new Act a great example for the rest of the country.
