What Charen does to Taranto in this piece by holding Taranto's position up to the light is a lesson in dispassionate dissection of unreasonable positions.

English classes would be more interesting and effective, both in raising literacy standards and in training teenagers how to think clearly and at least temporarily set aside a blaze of emotion, if students were educated towards producing similar analyses.
