I really like #lowcode #nocode got microsoft #powerautomate and #powerapps last year at work and trying to learn them, also trying to learn Markdown better, and @obsidian as well, to get that #SecondBrain up and running with #PARA and #CODE

Marot Matosov, VP of Damco Solutions, summarized the benefits in an article about the Value Proposition of Low-Code No-Code Platforms.
One quote: “Low-Code combines the expertise of business analysts and developers as the development cycles become more efficient, bringing developers closer to the business and enhancing efficiency."
Someone just pointed out that #LowCode testing is a 6-figure #Selenium wrapper. I knew that but I did not realize it’s implications. Low code is largely selenium ecosystem commercial projects.
I don’t personally see that wrappers (or frameworks which is a glorified wrapper of many) help us as much as people think as learning a different simplified even visual language creates a separation that my teams haven’t lived with with excellence.

@dpwiz I am asking because I think the #fp paradigm uniquely enables high-level composable constructs. I would love to see a visual exploration of such.
But if it were for me, I would want essentially gnu #coreutils reimplemented for graphical high-level programming like in a #nocode or #lowcode service.
If I were to write it, I would probably start with #openapi because of the broad adoption of that abstraction, and the market for api operations in small to medium business.
Very excited about the beta release of #WebStudio! It’s an open-source alternative to #Webflow, a visual UI builder for designers. One of the engineers working on it even used to work at Webflow!
They claim that it’s less resource-heavy, sites run faster, and there’s no vendor lock-in.
As soon as they release custom code components I’ll be trying it out!
#nocode #lowcode is so yesterday. It is basically a blast from the past. The latest idea is #subzerocode.
What does this #subzerocode mean? Getting code out with of solution. So actually to delete stuff and kill lines of code. The less code, the better.
If you are adding a new solution to an environment, you are forced to remove more code than you add to be #subzero. So the net-amount of code is negative.
Tthis is moving from #code to #lowcode to #nocode and even further to #subzerocode.

The thing driving the idea that #AI can replace human software #developers is the same fantasy that drives #LowCode products: that every automatable business problem is a collection of templates to be stitched together by a “non-techie” who understands what they want enough to express it in the terms of a watered-down vocabulary or interface.
Like #ChatGPT stringing together words from the Internet and books, it assumes everything worth writing has already been written and just needs remixing.
Just saw a demo of WP Engine's Pattern Manager beta (Mike McAlister's team) and it's a game changer.
Brian Gardner explicitly stated there's an open invite to request small group demos for anyone who wants to see it in action. I'd take him up on it, this is a huge efficiency for freelancers and agencies.

Why "subset"? Because there will be plenty of new features added along the way, as well as some of these items getting postponed/cancelled. Ok, done with one of the two flows (with the exception of some date formatting I need to do on the output—story of my life).
It was the easier of the two, but doing it gave me an idea for the harder one that is way simpler than what I was initially imagining, and that in turn gave me a pattern that I think I can use for another feature request the stakeholder made at our demo a couple weeks ago.
And I’m in bed on time. 😴
I pushed my inaugural Power App project live today and shared it with the key stakeholder; after I had knocked off today, he sent a feature request that will require one to new Power Automate flows to implement.
I plan to go to bed at 10:30; it's 9:53 as I write this. Can I implement and send him a request to test and still get to bed on time?

Man I hesitate to call this gatekeeping, but gosh "it's fine for fundamental tools to be hard to use" sure is a terrible way to think about design.

#LowCode systems insult novices because they assume novices cannot ever become skilled through practice and experience. They're infantalising.
So really the problem I have with #LowCode things is when they can't themselves be easily built upon by a higher level abstraction. Like an automated unit testing framework to quickly find regression errors. Or linters to show up when you've done something non-standard that will make maintenance needlessly difficult.
And now to flip it on its head: #LowCode works well when you're using an abstraction to manipulate highly standardized components at a lower level of abstraction.
Code today is low code compared to writing the machine code directly, or even assembly language. Especially with modern optimising compilers.
Gripes I have about #LowCode include:
- Lack of documentation. JSON not only doesn't have comments, they're forbidden. :wtf:
