In the Twilight Zone as McDonald's switches from breakfast to lunch, you can order this freaky Frankensandwich.
This secret McDonald's sandwich is only available at exactly 10:35 a.m.
#Wednesday is not usually the most beloved day of the week, but one can find the positives in it. A nice sunrise during the early commute, the energy of the city mid week, maybe the promise of something delicious for #lunch. I also find that doing something fun after work on Wednesdays in particular breaks up the week nicely and gives me something to look forward to on a day that’s usually just given the demeaning status of “hump day”. #goodmorning #today

#Teachers Say #Students Don’t Have Enough Time to Eat #Lunch. Here’s How to Change That
It seems like popular #lunch spot around #McGill all lurk in the most unnoticeable corners... (Low rent ≈ cheap prices?) Anyways, visited that Korean place, shared a table with two tourists to the city, chatted, admired each other's #food... and of course we all enjoyed our own meals!

So when I went to make lunch, I was confused for a second and tried to remember what I had yesterday.
Then I remembered...
Yesterday was a day of wanton abandon and debauchery.
I had popcorn for lunch.
"Debauchery? You're kidding, right?"
No, for this #ActuallyAutistic man, it was debauchery.
Okay, I'm kidding a little bit. Popcorn for lunch is not my usual.
Noon to 1 p.m. is lunchtime. It's not hard to understand right?
It seems like for a lot of people "IT" shouldn't be having lunch at "NOON" because that's the only their free to get support. (LOL) News flash. IT needs to eat as well and we follow the same schedule as the majority of the business. WHO KNEW!
On the 2nd day at work, the (Japanese)Canadian postdoc kindly showed me how the #cafeteria in the building nxt door operates for #lunch. Every Wed there's a special dish option, otherwise there's 3 dishes to choose from - they look just like the models nxt to the ticket vending machine. I got the gyudon (beef over rice), & got to choose 1 side (picked tofu, over the salad or dumplings).
End by rinsing out bowls, cups in the thin streams then put in the bath.

The weird urge to cook hot foods when it is hot out won. Now time to stay away from my kitchen till it cools down. #mealPrep for the remainder of the week: Japanese curry. Keeping it sweet and not very spicy as my girlfriend is not a fan of spice. First time using Vermont Curry as the flavoring and I while I like it, I think I’ll do half and half with the normal one I use.
Made a cold soba noodle salad for a pot luck barbeque yesterday. Doubled the recipe so I can have lunches this week. Admittedly, I toned down the flavours in the ginger-sesame dressing (I didn't know who'd be there or what their flavour tolerances were), so for my lunches I'm finessing it a bit with a bit of chilli crisp today :). May poach some shrimp in a garlicky-gingery broth to add to it later in the week. Num.
Super easy because of prep yesterday. Good habits. Self motivation. Post workout lunch/brunch. Salad leaves with lemon balsamic drizzle. Penne from the slow cooker.
Got setup outside and it started to rain, stopped raining as soon as I got back inside!

At the rural school district I last worked at, we had 1500 students, of whom 1,000 were free lunch and 500 were not. The cost of personnel (an entire department!), computers, and software for vetting students to make sure those 500 didn't get free lunch cost more than the cost of simply feeding them, already.

Oh look, another #introduction post from me. It's my fourth, and I still don't know what to put in it. I've been cluttering up the fediverse since October 2022.
Anyway. I was a public servant in Canberra for years and years, and now I'm not a public servant and I'm back in Adelaide where I just sort of droop about looking at things and catching buses and putting the bins out on Monday morning. A sense of purpose eludes me, but as time goes on it seems less and less important. Despite being 'retired' I'm only 52, so I'm a bit of an anomaly.
I maintain an interest in the various policy areas I worked in, but I won't go on about those things at length. I'm also politically active (on the left of course), but this won't be a political account. This will be where I let my mind wander about frivolously, or maybe just dopily, with the odd bit of seriousness.

#livingwell is lines like Melanie came up with yesterday: If the extra virgins are all making olive oil, what have all the other virgins been doing?" -- well, we know what they haven't been doing!
I've learned a lot more about cooking in the past few years, not only because the pandemic (although the it gave me a push), but just from a logistical standpoint. I'm work from home, and wifey has to drive over an hour to Phoenix every day (🙄).
I think that she likes that I'm now able to cook better and more often. As soon as I'm off work here at home, I start thinking of/making dinner. That's another big advantage of wfh. I can't imagine her driving over an hour to get home then having to make dinner. It doesn't make sense. Even though she is a GREAT cook. She taught me a lot. Like what things go together, etc. She's vegetarian now and we try to eat semi healthy (cutting sugar and fat just when we can), so I try to work all that in. Using odd leftover ingredients sometimes, experimenting- it's pretty cool, actually. Sometimes you feel like a mad scientist. 🤣
The most important thing probably to all of it is figuring out what ingredients you always need to have around, finding them at the best prices, and making sure you use them fast enough before they go bad- which is always tricky, especially with fruits and veggies.
I used to hate cooking (all I did before was eggs or microwaved stuff, really) and I think I kinda still do hate the process and effort (I'm not one of those people who gets a lot of gratification from stuff I've cooked, I barely like food 🤣🤣) but I gather up the energy required, and I enjoy knowing that
Having an air fryer has really helped, and I can't stress this enough. If you're on the fence, just get one. I use it literally daily. You can air fry all KINDS of things-- veggies, meat, it's incredible. Probably best not to totally cheap out on it though, as we've been through a few. Ours is a Ninja.
I also set up a Trello board with a bunch of meal ideas, after people on here gave me great advice- if you want to see that, it's here!
We do a little meal planning, as I also make her breakfast and pack her a lunch, as she puts on makeup/does hair in the morning, and again, it just makes sense. I don't need to look any certain way, I rarely leave the house!
This one got a little long. Maybe I'll throw it on Substack eventually? I'm not super active there (yet).
