So, #ffxiv works on my #manjaro laptop with #lutris and I'm happy.
During the game download, I've wrote how I proceed to install it.

Unfortunately, my gaming computer's watercooling ran into an issue (nothing bad, just some air noises inside) and I've preferred bring the machine back to the store where I've made it to ensure how it's going (I'm not confident enough to touch WC setup).
So it's an opportunity to move my lazy ass and try to install my favorite game ( #ffxiv ) on #manjaro ...
After some fight with #lutris and #wine and weird HTTPS errors on the launcher, it seems to be on rails.
While Debian (stable) may have failed, Manjaro Linux, worked.
Good thing too, because that previous error made me worried there was a drive issue. Nope, just an issue with Debian.
Wiped the drive anyway, and installed Manjaro. Performed another check, just to be sure, and once again verified no issues.

Ich habe mich heute mal wieder an #Manjaro #Gnome versucht. Irgendwie werden wir nicht warm miteinander. Das obwohl ich ja intensiv Pop! _OS mit Cosmic nutze. Aber da scheinen mittlerweile Welten zwischen zu liegen. Also bleibt es bei Manjaro bei #KDE Plasma. Irgendwann muss ich mich auch mal zwischen Pop! _OS und Manjaro entscheiden. Die strikte Trennung zwischen Privat :manjaro: und für die Arbeit :pop_os: ist nicht mehr notwendig. @pop_os_official @manjarolinux

🤔 Je teste actuellement la distribution GNU/#Linux #Manjaro avec l'environnement de bureau #KDE. À chaque démarrage complet ou sortie de veille, mon imprimante Samsung Xpress M2078W se fait sortir de veille (Wi-Fi). Je ne parviens pas pour l'instant à trouver de réponse à ce problème en fouillant dans les paramètres de gestion de l'énergie et de l'imprimante de KDE ou sur les forums sur internet. Avez-vous une idée ?

Tuve que quitar un par de dependencias que ya ni se pueden instalar, además de refactorizar un poco el código para quitar una tercera dependencia que no funciona en python 2.7 (imagínense).
Y tampoco lo pude hacer en local (creo que tiene que ver con #manjaro) tuvo que ser en contenedores (#podman).

Why is it ungoogleable? This is one of the most common issues in business computing, when moving computers from room to room. My steam deck handles it fine, setting is easy to find. My Wii-U even handles it fine. What the hell?

Ich hatte vor etwas Zeit mal einen USB- Stick mit einem bootfähigen und persistenten #Manjaro Linux drauf.
Aus dieser Idee entstand nun ein voll funktionierendes Manjaro auf einer externen Festplatte, das auf jedem System läuft, das von USB booten kann und ohne dem "Wirt" zu nahe zu treten. Jetzt habe ich mein heißgeliebtes Manjaro immer dabei. 😎👍

It used to be that I had to use gMTP to transfer files between my LineageOS phone and my laptop (running Debian). Now I can simply plug it in & it mounts it and I can transfer files. Very good.
I have a Pinephone Pro, running Manjaro Plasma (and Mobian). Those do not mount when I attach them to the laptop. Odd that Linux does not read other attached Linux systems.
I'm now updating Manjaro Plasma (testing). It's been a while, so hopefully it doesn't break.

@TobiasLaabs @Ihazchaos auch ich bin seit 8 Jahren bei Linux. Erst Ubuntu, dann Mint, jetzt sehr zufrieden mit #Manjaro #ManjaroLinux . Verstehe nicht, warum #Linux nach wie vor ein. Schattendasein fristet. Installation und Betrieb von #Linux ist schon lange nicht mehr nur für Nerds, sondern sehr einfach.

since I've been in #manjaro for about 5 years in the "unstable" branch, I've never had a serious system breakdown, so I think the rolling release model should be the default in all distros.
Whoa super annoying @thunderbird 115 freezes after a couple of seconds (even in --safe-mode), terminal output is not helpful (sometimes comes past 'Cannot load required OTR library' and shows some calendar VCARD output, but that's it). There's no --debug or --verbose flag (wtf) and the databse has already been migrated, so can't use old Thunderbird 102... 🤦
Can't work like this... 🙄
UPDATE: Even the :nixos: #NixOS version freezes on :manjaro: #Manjaro...

i am currently driving a few different VMs as I too am looking to hop away from ubuntu.x
So far #Manjaro, #MXLinux and #Debian12 work really well . Manjaro has the edge as the packages will more or less be current. as Debian ages it may look tired with old pacages. same with MX as it is deian based.
Let us all know what you decide! As always, it is always a personal decision
Two weeks nice family vacation, now slowly back to business. Great start:
- my #PrusaMini had its filament sensor turned off (wtf, can't remember I did that?), continues printing happily without filament...
- #Thunderbird 115 freezes after a couple of seconds on #Manjaro (and I can't downgrade because the new version already messed with my profile in a backwards-incompatible way)...
- the #GnuPG pinentry fix needed for #NixOS breaks gpg everywhere else with my synced dotfiles...

Despite what many old users say online, today it's a surprisingly reliable and polished rolling releaswle distro. You install it once and you'll never have to upgrade ever again). The gnome edition (which I'm using) comes with Pop Shell (PopOS window tiling) and a layout switcher so you can customize it as you like. It also comes with built in flatpak and snap support.

Good call for #Debian . #bullseye has recently been released so I'd look at that release.
Arch is great, but has a steeper learning curve and a very manual installation process. but you will learn a lot. There's loads of documentation available too.
If you want to try an 'easier' arch based distro, #Manjaro is a great choice.

Finally took some time to bust out the @PINE64 #pinebookpro and have some fun! I'd planned on flashing #nixos onto it, but everything I'd book from the image on my NVMe, I'd go through the whole rebuild and switch but it continued failing to boot into the new build... 🤔
Next best option, fresh install an #archlinux based system with great development record for the PBP, #manjaro , and manage everything with #nix. Turns out option #2 is still pretty awesome! 😎🤘 :manjaro: :nixos: #linux

Despite of occasional issues that rises with #Manjaro (about once or twice a year), I'm very satisfied with the experience. Also, one of the nice things they do is that they post the update changes in the forum, in which the have a poll to gauge how smooth the update went for the community. Also because it is in a forum, people can immediately share if they have faced any issue and any potential solution they have used. From my time with Arch & OpenSuse, this part was wasn't there in this shape.
I just browsed through the @manjarolinux #spreadshop. 🛒 I think, it is quite a nice way to support an #opensource project or a #Linux distribution (especially, for someone coming from an indie music background).
And it features some really nice merch, that might also be attractive for users of other distros. Go check it! 👍 #manjaro #foss

@gerrymcgovern I believe all manufacturers should be legally obliged to collect devices at the end of their life, and refurbish for reuse, or disassemble and recycle the various components. I personally love taking my parents’ old laptops, sprucing them up and giving them a new lease of life with a #linux #manjaro install.

I think I messed up my #Manjaro XFCE video drivers, and I now boot into a black screen, tried previous kernel, so now I'll have to learn some #Linux recovery procedures and possibly restart from scratch :-S

I did chroot from a live USB
and fiddled with mhwd -r pci (removed an nvidia hybrid prime something something) and I'm back in business :)))

You know, after last night, I've thought about it. And I'm just not gonna even concern myself with Linux besides WSL anymore, probably until KDE is fully accessible. Why? Because Linux needs developers, and users with tons of time to put in, and then keep up with, and poke, issues on Git forges. And you know what? I have a full time job. I was not born with the Python docs or JavaScript handbook or Rustations' Guide to Living, in my hands. I wasn't made to code. Maybe I could have been if I'd kept to it when I was in high school. But not now. Too busy. Too tired. And you know, there are plenty of developers on Mastodon. If they need my help, they freaking know where to reach me. And yeah, I know there are people who are scared to death of asking the blind person something, in fear of offending or something. Tough. Ask and you'll get answers. You know, I went to the developers of System76's new desktop environment, and asked if I could help with any accessibility stuff, and they were like "Sure yeah when we get to the UI stuff." I signed up for their Mattermost instance. I took time out of my day to talk to them. And that's what I get. Not "Thanks for volunteering. Here's what our current accessibility stack works with, anything else we need?" Cause of course the UI is where you start with accessibility, not at the beginning when designing what the UI will do /s. Oh hey lookie, Easy-effects. @thelinuxEXP #LinuxMint is my number one choice for a distro that “just works.” #Cinnamon is my DE of choice for its easy customization & simplicity.
I wish that there was an good #Arch distro that was simple and easy like #Manjaro, because I really enjoy using it. #EndeavourOS makes me build all my apps, Arch makes me build my entire OS, #Garuda leans too heavily on the AUR.
At this very moment I’m installing #ArcoLinux, which I’m hoping will be a good Manjaro alternative.
