#Cat #CatsOfMastodon #Marmite was desperately curious to try some of the fermented cucumber I was nibbling and so I gave her a bit. She sniffed it for a couple of minutes, and then gave me a look like I'd tried to poison her. I don't think she likes fermented cucumber.

#Marmite's vet visit went OK and she's back with me. Her mouth is fine (that's what I was mostly worried about), but she has a slight infection in her left ear, which I suspected because she's been scratching it a lot. Meds to be administered.

Today's bakes.

Ingredients for the #wholemeal #bread with honey and lavender:
300gr wholemeal flour
200gr strong bread flour
350gr water
10gr salt
10gr fresh yeast
1 topped tsp of lavender
30gr honey

Ingredients for the #rye bread*:
100gr rye starter
150gr water
200gr wholemeal rye flour
5gr salt
15gr black treacle**
3gr caraway seeds.

*Ready to eat the day after tomorrow.
**I used a mix of #Marmite and #honey.

Closeup from above of the two breads resting on my big square cooling rack. The wholemeal almost uses the whole of the rack. The rye bed in the top right corner looks very small compared to it. The crust of the wholemeal bread has a very nice gold colour, with bits of white in between from the light dusting of flour. The rye bread got a heavy coating of flour, so it is mostly white, with cracks where the rye crust shows through. Both look as they should do.

I've been eating it recently because it's got vitamin B or something.

I just spotted that this #marmite says “100% vegetarian”. It occurs to me that saying “100%” here is a tad pointless. You can’t have something 99% vegetarian as any meat means it is not vegetarian at all. Well, unless perhaps Soylent green where “vegetarians” could be an ingredient :-)
