The stain is periodic acid-Schiff (that's per-iodic, related to iodine and not period-ic related to time). PAS is typically used to stain mucin, fungi and (my commonest use) basement membrane.

The blobby structures here are drusen, which I view as accumulations of junk beneath the retina, often related to ageing. #EyePath

In an attempt to not go #rigid, I sit still like an #iguana. It doesn't soften my #glare. But listening to the wind #chanting its #captivating tune, feeling it brush my face with #angel wings, does. Finally, tears can wash away the fear.
