This year in my first advisee #meetings, we draft a research question, add a sentence to the lit. review (with Zotero citation), look at a finished thesis (and corresponding poster), review the funding and thesis deadlines, start a to-do list, and assign the first homework.

Students seem almost shocked at how far we can get in the first meeting.
