Recently picked up the ram adapter (the part of the #Nintendo #famicom disk system that goes into the cartridge slot), and the FDSKey I ordered arrived last night. It emulates the “disk card” drive, and allows you to choose which disk is presented to the system from a micro sd flash card. The FDSKey is an open source hw/sw project, & it works beautifully.

Now I can play the original #Zelda, #Metroid (and other fds games like #airfoot) in their original glory without the failure-prone drive & disks. Highly recommended.

This is hands down the best #ROMhack I have seen in a while. Dude, ported #Metroid on the #NES to the #SNES. He also added MSU-1 support with near CD quality orchestra soundtrack. He added some quality of life improvements such as a map etc. This is a must play if you have a #SD2SNES or #FXPakPro flashcarts. It also works with the latest version of #SNES9X. The #nintendo Winter 2002 promo book/catalog. This was available for free in big stacks at places like K-Mart, which is where I think I got it. I loved the #gamecube and #gba . This generation really cemented my adult Nintendo fandom. #retrogaming #animalcrossing #metroid

So I have a save right near Mecha-Ridley - need to deal with that+escape sequence, then to backtrack and actually 100% everything. I did one of the ridiculous shinespark puzzles yesterday, but not the others.

I think the #Metroid franchise has a better written, more intriguing multiple-game spanning throughline than anything else in Nintendo's main line-up.

Miyamoto is not directly involved with it, which I feel is to its benefit - even if that means the entire franchise is on the edge of being quietly erased.

I feel like I need to qualify my #hollowknight statement.

My loves are eclectic. I put tons of hours into #angband, #skyrim, various #zelda homebrew. I put an embarrassing amount of hours (years) into being immortal on a MUD.

I love all #metroid / #retro stuff, did a bunch of #stardewvalley , #valheim, #minecraft, #fps, #stanleyparable, all over the place.

Hollow Knight is so good it's become a trope of the genre, the game by which similar are compared for several years.

I'm warming up to playing GB/A games on SGB/GBP. I've only ever played Fusion and Metroid II on hardware or with LCD shaders on emulators to make them nice and sharp, but there's a different feel to them on a small TV that I really dig.

(I know this is getting ridiculous, but I moved yet again to update my username, so another intro :blobcat_mlem:)

I'm a trans girl trying to figure herself out and be more open. :ablobcatwave:

I'm also autistic (self-ID), possibly also ADHD/Kinetic.

I'm a GNOME developer at Purism, maintaining libadwaita. I will occasionally post updates about it.

I support 🇺🇦🇦🇲🇵🇸.

Otherwise I'm into video games. Currently mostly Touhou and osu!, previously Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, Crypt of the NecroDancer/Cadence of Hyrule, etc.

I also listen to a lot of video game music and their covers, and should probably be posting more about it than I did previously.

I can also talk about languages, though I almost never post about them.

It's time to play #MetroidPrime!
I'm not a big fan of FPSs. I'm horrible at controlling the camera and where I'm going simultaneously! 😄 But let's see how that goes. I think it will take me many months to complete the game! 😛

So, now that I've played all the 2D Metroid originals (not the two remakes yet), that's how I rank them:

One day, I will play again and try 100% because the game is excellent. The ambient sound sets the game's tone, Samus is more responsive than in previous games, and there wasn't a sector that I thought "get me out of here!" like parts of Maridia in Super Metroid.

Sunday night, the BSL research station and planet SR388 were destroyed! Metroid Fusion, tick! ☑️
I like the linear story and missions. Nintendo tried something different. After the middle of the game, you have more freedom to explore. Although, after getting the screw attack and talking to Adam, I couldn't do my 100% items run before going to the last part of the game. Every door to other sectors was closed, and that was frustrating! 🙁
