The end of an era for this tree. It's stood by the stream all my life but was felled in the gales a couple of years ago.

A common darter (Sympetrum striolatum) on a twig.

Some dragonflies are still active as the autumn has been quite warm so far. This one was quite shy and flew up into a tree so I had to hold the camera high above my head.
