Was sort of at a loss for the tombstone that goes on the base of the pube devil, so I grabbed the color wheel and sort of went crazy.
I like it I think? If I stick with it it'll need some refinement. Might just be knocking everything back with some browns, definitely adding some highlights and shadows.
Bare minimum got to put some matte varnish on that shiny magenta at the bottom.

These boots are taking forever, there are so many nooks and crannies, and an arm bracer (?) to go as well. Doesn't help that I am also slow 😆. Today is the first day I've had time to add more paint in a lil.
Finally had time to get the basing done! Added some rocks from the VLoZD kit also used sone hair pieces as grass.
The fence divides the base between a road and graveyard. Used extra grave stones from the zombie kit and the flagstones for the road are plasticard!

Ok, finally feeling a bit more like myself, as in I can walk the dogs without feeling like I need a nap afterwards! Got to do a little bit of painting, reworked this fellas hat and gave him some goofy eyes.
It would be nice to finish the building he'll go with by Halloween. We'll see.

Something a little different today, decided to grab my solitaire, the troupe colors, and figure out the placement on the fly. Some reasonable wet blending going on here, but it's looking a bit sloppy everywhere for now!

I've done it! Used the airbrush for painting instead of priming. Still very much getting the hang for how much thinner to use. I can see why when you get the hang of it this is a very useful tool, if not actually doing anything of value just yet.
You can sort of see where I unsuccessfully started on the grey for the roof but ran out of time.
The sides are dark jade from pro acryl, which is just a pretty color.
Once again the thrift store is the root of hobby inspiration - another ceramic building to be converted for the Halloween village. This will definitely pay homage to Our Flag Means Death.
The open question is do I attempt to snap off the snowman or sculpt it into a kraken tentacle?
Spoiler alert, there will be kraken tentacles either way.
Back from the USA and working on a Carcharodon kill team for a Badab War event. All rescue models from the Box of Old Shit I couldn't bring myself to throw out, with the terminators converted to look more like the old FW named character. All the new studs are nail art hemispheres.
Probably about two thirds done, except for basing which I still need to think about (suggestions in a reply please!)

Watched F1 qualifying and painted with my daughter this afternoon, really an ideal setup.
Quick job on our cowboy skeleton friend's bones. Something about it is off for me, either the tone is too brown or the highlights being sloppy because I dry brushed them. Thinking about a do over.

The good thing about being forced to listen to security training is a bit of time for hobby.
Hitchhiking ghosts base is coming along and looking like a real wall. When this round of clay dries it will be ready for primer.
Todays chosen distraction was a #Heroquest Barbarian. One of my weakest areas in #MiniPainting is flesh. So it seemed like a good #mini to lose myself in. I’ve made a bit of an arse of the face 😂, but the muscles and body have come up in a way I like. It’s all very #WIP at the moment, but I reckon if I rescue the 🤡… I’ll be happy enough that I’ve made some personal progress.

I think I repainted these eyes three times before I realized there were sculpted eyelids making it look weird! Amazing what a single line of paint can do for definition . This is probably as good as they're going to get 😂
I've been thinking about getting into #3dprinting and getting a resin printer for #miniaturepainting.
People who've done it - was it actually worth it? Does it get a lot of use?
In terms of printers, what's the minimum cost for something decent for printing #warhammer alternatives like Highland Miniatures? Any specific recommendations?

Not a great picture, but I went to attach pube devil's wig and realized I needed to figure out the horns first or I would really be making life difficult for myself.
Quick wet blending and very pleased with the results. Wish I had a little more time to do the other right now and do refinements, but whatcha gonna do.
Poking along at the hair/wig/pelt for our friend The Pube Devil (aka screaming god pinup), having fun playing with tones but think it's probably at a point where I just need to suck it up and glue it on the mini to get a sense of how it should proceed.
Every time I do a round of paint I step back and think "needs more contrast"
I punched a stupid hole in the plaster when trying to hang up more paint shelves. Mixed some milliput to fix it, which meant extra milliput, so: motherfucking decorative gourd season!
I'll probably use these in the Halloween village project

Basecoating is now complete, and I’ve made a good start on edge highlighting. The big tank still needs half of it’s red highlights done and both tanks need the hazard striping highlighting. Then it’s just onto a handful of little details and I can call them done, maybe another evenings work.

Modified the lid of my wet palette to become a texture palette for dry brushing 😄
Glued on some various bits and bobs from leftover kits and some basing materials, primed it, varnished it, and it's good to go!
Finally got around to painting the Chytrids from the Nemesis Lockdown boardgame!
Showed them to my daughter, and she said they were gross... Mission accomplished I'd say! 😄

Probably unpopular opinion: Competition style #miniaturepainting is so centered on displaying technical skill that visually it's really boring. The pieces seldom evoke a sense of the artist's personal style, and that bothers me because I'd rather an imperfectly executed piece that's imaginative and characterful than a technically perfect but lifeless one.

It looks like a good system, but they have so many configurations I almost gave up.
It's worth a look if you don't mind the potential risk of pledging on crowdfunding platforms. It's hobby investment priced. 😉
