Nowadays I'm a semi-hermit living with my delightful musician / artist partner & our two sons in an old farmhouse & studio overlooking world heritage listed rainforest in #Australia's Northern Rivers region. #SysVinit was slow af with boot times in the minutes.
#SystemD retained compatibility yet removed the slow linearity by parallelization.
Just like #Wayland won as #X11 / #Xorg successor whilst also providing compatibility.

I have a weakness for Dieter Rams #minimalist design, #gadgets and simple shapes. Building and riding #fixedgear bikes is something I do to get some fresh air after all.
My brain keeps coming back to the idea of a *very* #minimalist “phone” for folks who want to go low-speed. Eink screen, map app that only shows the local neighbourhood’s roads/landmarks, and “places where you can shelter from weather/make friends/ask for directions” (pub/church/hostel/etc), messaging apps that can display what others send but can only send audio, an audio journaling app. *Perhaps* a nice camera but no preview screen, just an apperture that lets you line up the shot.
