Originally, this building was the grammar school for the town of Bampton, in the Cotswolds, England. Today it houses the Bampton archives. You may recognize it as the hospital for the popular tv series, Downton Abbey.

You may recognize this building from TV as it served as the hospital in the popular Downton Abbey series. Originally this building was the grammar school for the town of Bampton and today it houses the Bampton Archive.

As well as housing an extensive archive that includes an impressive collection of old photographs of Bampton and Bampton people, the Archive hosts a number of exhibitions each year. There is also a shop, selling a variety of books, audio CDs, DVDs and cards, including a small selection of Downton Abbey memorabilia including cards, booklets, mugs, pictures and prints.

Pig Resists His Bath Time is a mixed media painting that brings us a monkey pulling on a pigs tail as the pig attempts to exit a small plastic swimming pool.

This whimsical image conjures up so many questions in my mind. Who are these charming animals and what are their names? Is the Pig actually resisting a bath or is the monkey just being an imp? Where in the world could a scene like this take place? I like to think they are best friends having a little fun one warm summers day and that they live an idyllic life in some rural setting with kindly caretakers.

I may have mentioned before that, when we were kids, my mom would read stories to us about magical creatures; fairies, gnomes & such, that lived peacefully in forests. I've never lost the sense of awe and wonder I felt listening.

Fairies In The Forest. Picture yourself stumbling across such a nighttime scene. Deep in the forest, you look upward through tall trees toward the starlit sky. The trees are strangely illuminated with golden streaks of light and the air is filled with flying orbs of glowing color. Is it magic, otherworldly, a fantasy of your mind? I imagine this stand of trees inhabited with a city of fairies. In fact, if you look closely you might even discover houses, buildings, lanterns, flying creatures. I invite you to enter into my dreamworld for just a bit.

Happy Leaf is a mixed media painting that started out as a batik, received some watercolor application and finally a bit of digital detail. All this resulted in a textured, colorful, illuminated image of a leaf on green. When I look at the painting I get a sense of overall happiness radiating from the canvas. The leaf's joyful colors could be present in any season and its shape is carefree, as though it is being tossed about by the wind - hence the title.
