@caos @sexy_peach Aber wenn man sich von z.B. Mastodon aus beteiligen kann (so wie ich das hier gerade tue), warum sollte man sich dann auch noch einen #Lemmy-Account anlegen? Oder eine Lemmy-App zulegen? (Ernsthaft: Ich habe #Mlem 0.0.6 (21), aber ich weiß nicht so recht, wozu.)

NEW VERSION OF MLEM IS OUT:
In this version:
- Migrated the backend from WebSockets to HTTP
- Removed some intentional crashes, so it should be crashing much less now (hopefully)
- Did some slight optimizations to make the networking work faster. Most notable posting comments and creating posts should be much faster now
IF YOU HAVE ACCOUNTS ADDED, REMOVE THEM AND RE-ADD THEM! Otherwise every feed will show „No posts to be found“
Just spent 30 minutes trying to debug why I was getting seemingly random number of comments for a post from the Lemmy API. Turns out I set the cache policy on my network requests to `returnCacheDataDontLoad` 🤦♂️
Mlem just completed the first step on its journey to REST: It finally lets you log in! I know it's not that impressive, but after struggling with converting the entire app from WebSockets to REST, I must say I am relieved I got at least this working 😂
MLEM HOTFIX OUT NOW:
- Fixed crashing when tapping on the "Welcome Reddit refugees" post once and for all (hopefully)! Thanks to https://github.com/mormaer
- Voting on comments now more seamless (and doesn't make the comments reload)
- Fixed bug where upvoting a downvoted post would show the incorrect score (off by 1)
Notice anything in this video? That's right, thanks to more amazing contributions by @samalone, when you upvote or downvote a comment, Mlem no longer locks up!
It also doesn't crash anymore when you upvote two comments in fast succession. I'd say we're living in the future 😄
This paves the way for more advanced comment manipulation, like editing and deleting your comments within Mlem. Stay tuned for more!

Today in Mlem: Thanks to a great contribution by @samalone, replying to comments just got much more pleasant! The comment just slides right in, instead of the whole comment section having to reload, taking additional time and power.
In the meantime, I implemented a button for subscribing to and unsubscribing from communities. Another step towards a full release! Not bad for Mlem being in development for only just around a month.
After some discussions on the Mlem community, I decided to drop support for v1 of the Lemmy API. Most notably, this means that I no longer have to double-parse everything.
It also means that Hexbear, which is still using the ancient v1 of the API, will no longer be supported in Mlem. When you try to add it now, you get an error.
A question for Mlem users:
Should Mlem drop support for v1 of the Lemmy API?
As it is now, Mlem also supports the ancient v1 of the API. Pretty much the only instance that still uses this version is Hexbear. All other instances use v3.
Dropping support for v1 would mean much less maintenance on my part, and would mean that updates would come out faster and would be less buggy.
On the other hand, Hexbear is probably the largest single instance.
Please share your thoughts.

#mlem Side note: got Radar from the shelter and he has been, hands down, the best dog I’ve ever owned. So snuggly, loves all of my kids, terrified of all the cats. Super gentle good boye.
