I pointedly disagree with the cause-effect vs. correlation vs. confirmation-bias in observation relationship proposed by M. Johnson here, but I find the model-dimension model itself interesting as a way to express the complexity and cognitive load from ever present internal simulations. Analysis paralysis, anyone? I usually refer to it as state space explosion myself. And if one of the branches is inacceptably bad, mitigations "must" be applied.

We need to talk about behavior: If we want a #weather-ready, #climate-ready nation, everything needs to take into account behavioral science and service equity. We need to ensure their risk perception = their risk reality and the behavior is changed. The "last critical mile" is where we can save lives.

I study #decentralized online social groups: organizational structure, how technology shapes human collaboration, the effects of content #moderation, the emergence of #AltTech, all that juicy stuff. I'm a #ComplexSystems #scientist (#PhDstudent), so I use a combination of #ComputerScience, #CSCW, mathematical #modeling, #NLP, and statistics to study social phenomenon.
Outside academia, I apply that work at #DDoSecrets, a publishing collective that distributes leaked documents to journalists and researchers, and when appropriate, the public. Most of my contributions are behind the scenes (infrastructure, some #infosec, academic coordination and collaboration), so I rarely speak publicly for the collective.
