I never go to Paris without spending an early evening wandering the narrow streets of Montmartre. For me, Paris wouldn't really be Paris without Montmartre and, despite all the intrusions of the modern world, I readily find myself transported back, in my mind's eye, to a 19th Century landscape of garrets, artists, and absinthe.

Er publizierte bei Stengel (Berlin und Dresden) in dessen 'Reisebibliothek' als Band 1 (mehr offenbar nicht erschienen) im Jahr 1900 zur #Weltausstellung den #Reiseführer "Der Deutsche in #Paris".

Darin (S. 227) zählt er eine Reihe von Grabstätten berühmter ausschließlich Männer auf dem Friedhof #Montmartre auf, darunter jene von #Heine .

Abhilfe wird im folgenden Jahr geschaffen.

Abbildung des Reiseführers: R. M. Orlow: "Der Deutsche in Paris 1900", Berlin und Dresden 1900 (Stengel’s Reise-Bibliothek, 1). Der Buchdeckel ist im Jugendstil gestaltet mit einer zeittypischen Schriftart und mit einem schwarz-roten Zierrahmen.

Today's picture was taken in Paris and shows the view from inside the Musée d'Orsay, looking towards Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur.
Prior to the 1970s, the museum was a railway station - today it is one of the largest art museums in Europe, and is full of treasures from the second half of the 19th Century.

Following my recent boost of a toot about the wonderful #film Amelie, it reminded me of #Montmartre where the film is set. This year I was lucky to have 2 trips there.

There are guided tours walking visitors around the area showing sights and locations from the film. From the steps of Sacré-Cœur to #ArtNouveau metro stations, boulangeries for your baguettes, or obscure public gardens with graffiti walls.
