The dogs were at the bedroom door just after five this morning. I thought maybe it was storming, so I got up. It wasn't storming, so I let the dogs out (in case you were wondering who). The reason they were agitated was some animal was in the backyard. It was probably a large squirrel or maybe a racoon. My bird bath was overturn and a hanging bird feeder was on the ground with the cable broken from one side. I think can repair it. The large brick of seeds that was inside ... gone. I might need to start putting the feeders away at night.

Let me tell you a story about tumblr. Once upon a time, I was very happy there. The site was lenient with porn and people shared lots of very intimate things. And because tumblr is a queer site, those things were different from (and more interesting than) your run-off-the-mill porn site.
And then, in an act of corporate suicide, tumblr banned porn. And the interesting, intimate posts disappeared, and the people did, too.
There's a lesson here.

I got up in disarray this morning. My wife and I were going to take a short trip to a Safari Park near Alexandria, but then I remembered it's Ben's haircut day. So I rushed around to get him to the groomer's place.
To you recall Maslow's hierarchy of needs? If you're not familiar, I encourage you to look it up. At the top of the hierarchy is Self-Actualization. When you're at that stage then supposedly, you have all that you need. I did struggle briefly when I retired, I needed something to do, a hobby. I had choices so I picked one and then settled in for the ride. That's where I am, and I have very few wants. But I do want a Canon 100-400 mm lens 😂.

So it seems I’ve done somethin muscular to my lower abdomen, the NHS cuts are such that they can’t actually tell me what, just that:
1) it probably won’t kill me
2) it will hurt like someone’s repeatedly stabbing me in the left kidney with a rusty nail (ok not an exact quote 🤭)
3) it will take several weeks to heal
4) yes they know it hurts like a mother, but try to do some exercise.

My day flows a lot more peacefully if I get to begin it creatively. Just doodling or painting quietly to myself or having a video play in the background.

I had this song on my mind this morning. For some reason, I thought it was by the Rascals, but I was wrong. After looking it up I remembered, of course.

Before we moved to Louisiana, I had never seen an alligator in the wild. Then we drove south down towards the coast and there were many of them. Friends tell me they are in the freshwater lakes around where I live. But I've not seen one. There is even a small lake nearby named Alligator Lake, though again, I've not seen an alligator at Alligator Lake. True, just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean that they aren't there.
It's a little like that college introductory course in philosophy: What is it to know? I don't really know they are there; I only believe they are there because other people said so. When I say I know something, often, what I actually mean is I've seen enough evidence to believe it is true. I do know that I'm sitting in my office with Ben curled up next to my chair.

I screwed up yesterday. I remembered that I hadn't installed the drivers for my new motherboard yet, so I got the USB stick that came with the motherboard and installed them. When I initially started the install there were three drivers that were unchecked so I checked them. Now I'm having trouble with Topez Denoise AI. I thought I would remember those three drivers, but as usual ... not so much. I'll figure it out, but it would have been less painful if I used a little more caution.

Saturday in the dark, I think I'll put some air in my tires. 🎼🎙🎺
I should get more computer parts in today; I'm expecting a fan and RAM. I guess that now-a-days, they call the heat sink and fan a CPU cooler. I need to keep up on technology contemporary lingo. When I worked, I was computer professional you know, and I just learned of the essential vernacular shift a couple days ago. I am of course, just talking nonsense which is good for the soul.
Contemporary American slang amuses me. At work, I used to occasionally use the word "word" to express agreement with something somebody else said. Mind you, I was in my 60s. I enjoyed getting a reaction. I even made up my own word, "geniosity" for the level of genius a person possessed. It was fun.

My wife is away in Georgia, so I leave the bedroom door open when I sleep. Ben comes in and slips under the bed for the night, and Charlie ... well ... I'm not completely certain where Charlie sleeps but he spends time in the Foyer, some time in a chair, etc. But he usually wakes me at about 06:00 AM. This morning he didn't though, I woke at about 06:45. Charlie was right there at the side of the bed. He had been patiently waiting for me to get up.
In morning, I sit here for a while wondering what to write. Sometimes it comes to me right away and other times I struggle with thought. Part of the struggle is avoiding politics and religion. My blog is about birds and photography, but in the morning, I like to muse over coffee. The quote this morning is about belief.

I'm getting a late start this morning. It took me a while to find a photo for this morning and Iaid back in my recliner for an hour after dealing with the dogs' morning regime. I'm about finished with my first cup of coffee but my mind still a bit immersed in morning fog.
One of my favorite authors is Dean Koontz, he wrote a series about a fictional FBI agent Jane Hawk, in the series there is a line that goes "be at peace." It's a good series, one of those that leaves you hanging at the end of each book. Anyway, "be at peace" does and doesn't mean what you think it means ... but you'd need to read the books to find out what. At work, when I worked, I would sometimes use the line when somebody was agitated ... but of course I kind of got blank looks.

It's Cinco De Mayo, it's been eight years since a significant lifechanging and lifesaving event, for me anyway. But that's oversharing. We all have or will have things go wrong with our bodies, particularly when we get older. I prefer to keep those things private, in fact I feel I've said too much already. The reason I keep them private especially from family and friends, is because there is no reason to have something like that weighing on their minds. Why Start worrying them over something that they have no control over? For me the only problem is my wife, it's she who I lean on. At times like that she needs someone to lean on, besides me.
