Do you have any background on this place. I figure an artist might be privy to some cultural background on street art like this.
IIRC, locals call it “Jazz Alley” or something like that. There are a couple of small, mostly jazzy night clubs, that have entrances from here in the alley in this waterfront neighborhood if what’s referred to as Old Town.
All of the history here is inferred, deduced by me, but the most troublesome thing for me is the explanation as to why the railroad tracks are right up against this old building - now some sort of trinket shop for tourists (on the other side of the building).
Anyway, I just figured you’d might be able to shed some light on this or point me towards some links explaining this phenomenon.

"A longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane, [#JacobJohns] has been vocal during #ClimateChange protests in Spokane, has painted #murals on Spokane city walls, has fundraised for #Indigenous groups through selling his paintings, organizes #SocialJustice rallies, and more.
"He just finished painting a mural in the Howard Street underpass on Sept. 19 to celebrate #VotingRights restoration for recently incarcerated people on National Voter Registration Day. Johns was also present at the #StandingRockPipeline protests in #NorthDakota.
"In just two months, he was scheduled to lead an #IndigenousWisdomKeepers Delegation to discuss solutions to climate change.
"'His home is there in Spokane. He tries to help out everywhere he can. Any community mural, anything grassroots. He is a real warrior,' [Johns' friend] Lane said. 'That’s what warriors do, standing up for #MotherEarth. I know that’s what he’s doing that for – his daughter, and all of mankind.'
"Lane is waiting for updates on his friend’s condition. He said as the community waits, they pray.
"'More than anything, I hope this can bring our communities together,' Lane said. 'We are all Americans. All of us. We got more in common than we do the difference.
"'We can’t let this be normal. He is a Spokandian; he is your family.'"

Found it again in my travels recently.
The #rosella is astonishingly good. So too the #wombat to the right of scene in the second pic.
Painted by HaydenDewar.com in 2019, this scene complements another painted on brick, just off Acland Street in StKilda. It has the same humanoid figures and #Australiana themes.
I’ll visit that and feature it here, sometime in the not too distant future.
This mural (pictured in this post) however, is located in #Bentleigh #Australia.

I’d suggest this gorgeous piece is about halfway complete and the detail (face, neck, arms, fingers, surrounding scene etc) will take the longest to complete; will be painstaking. Just guessing.
I can see this coming along beautifully, with shading and more depth to come. This will look absolutely breathtaking once complete.
Justine, the creator of this emerging masterpiece took a little time out to chat to passers by and me. This accomplished artist is a marvel to speak to and you can see why she’s an angel who paints from the heart. Just wow and… gosh!

This is 1 of 11 rooms that was on display, titled; “The Glasshouse”.
This display in particular was very moving, for mine.
I loved the props, music and of course the poignant candid (natural) appearance of the young women making their way in her new world in #melbourne #Australia back in the day.

To say I was moved is an understatement.
The art, accompanying installations, lighting and music as an overall ensemble was simply stunning.
Here’s a little taster of the ‘Glasshouse’ installation, one of 11 themed rooms on display within the rustic old wing of the station.
You were allowed to take pictures and vid so that was a bonus. Took over 200 pictures all up.
I’ll feature each of the rooms over the coming days.
